The Dragon and the Princess

Chapter 14*

Natsu, who knew Lucy's house best, was at the door when she opened it. Neither said anything until Wendy cleared her throat to break the awkward silence.

"Um... We'll be waiting outside when you girls are ready." Natsu stuttered.

"Okay! We'll be out in a few minutes" she said, and smiled. When Natsu left, Wendy whispered something to the girls and they all giggled. Lucy didn't notice.

After a minute, Lisanna said "Um...Lucy? Are you okay?"

Lucy blinked. "Oh. Yeah. Thanks. Let's go!" She said, and the girls walked down the steps. When they got downstairs, the boys were talking about something. As soon as they opened the door, Romeo as the first to notice. Slowly, all the boys stopped talking and looked at the girls. Then, the guys walked up to the girls and gave them all flower corsages. They all matched the colors of the girls dresses. How? Oh... Mira. When all the girls had the corsages on, they started walking to the dance.

"You look amazing." Natsu said to Lucy. That wasn't like him. He would normally make fun of her.

"Thanks. So you you." She said. "Are you okay?"

Natsu laughed. "Of course! I'm here, with you, and we are about to go to a dance with all of the people I care about! Why would I not be okay?"

"I suppose... You're right!" She said. A little behind them was Gray and Juvia.

"I really am sorry about earlier. I feel bad." Gray said to Juvia.

"It's okay Gray-sama." She laughed.

"Thank you for coming with me." Gray was surprised when she said that.

"Of course! To be honest, if you didn't ask me, I would've asked you." Juvia smiled at that comment. Even further back was Elfman and Evergreen. They weren't talking, just awkwardly walking next to each other. Erza was eating cake, which Jellal got her instead of a corsage. He laughed at her, and she glared at him. Gajeel threw Levy over his shoulder, and she struggled for a couple of minutes, then decided it was pointless. Romeo and Wendy were behind everyone, giggling and whispering.

Natsu and Gajeel smiled at each other, then Natsu whispered to Lucy "Wendy and Romeo are talking about couples. Wendy can smell feelings"

"Yeah, I know" said Lucy.

"Can you and Gajeel do that too?" She asked.

"Nah, that's a sky dragon slayer thing." He replied. "It would be pretty cool though..." They were almost at the field where they were gonna have the dance.

"Would you put me down!?" Levy yelled at Gajeel.

"Fine, shrimp. Don't get all worked up." He said. When they walked on the field, everyone who wasn't getting ready with them was already there.

"Okay! Let's get started!" Mira said, and queued Laxus with the music.
