Chapter 17

Natsu woke up first, and he was kind of surprised to see he was in Lucy's bed. He often woke up in Lucy's house, but normally on the couch or the floor. His arms were wrapped around her belly, and his hands met right near her belly button. Her back was to him, and she was curled up into a ball. Her blonde hair was in his face, but it was okay, because he loved the smell. Natsu moved slightly, and Lucy moved closer to him, so he decided to stay with her instead of make breakfast. They had left the window open last night, so there was a breeze. When a particularly strong breeze came through the window, she pulled up the covers and moved even closer to him than she already was, which didn't seem humanly possible.

"Cold" she muttered, and he breathed warm air on her neck. "Mmmm" he heard, and then he smiled. He was getting bored. And hungry. He wanted to do something. Natsu kissed up her neck, starting at the base if her collarbone.

Then, when he made it to her ear, he whispered in it "Wake up sleepyhead!" Lucy's eyes opened.

"Good morning. How long have you been up? I'm sorry!" She said frantically.

"No, no. It's okay. I've only been up 15 minutes." Natsu said.

"Okay. Let's make breakfast. What do you want?" Lucy said. Natsu though for a moment.

"Chocolate chip pancakes. And whipped cream. With cinnamon on top." Lucy laughed.

"You want some fire with that?" She said, jokingly. Natsu looked happy.

"Yes!" He said.

"I was joking, but alright."

After breakfast, Lucy looked at Natsu. He didn't look too good.

"Natsu, you alright? You look kind of sick..." Natsu got up and lay down in Lucy's bed.

"I'm sure I'm just tired. I'm gonna take a nap." He said. When he was asleep, Lucy felt his forehead. He was burning up, even more than usual. She had to go get Wendy. She ran to the guild, and found Wendy and Levy reading a book.

"Wendy! There is something wrong with Natsu! Can you help him?" Lucy said, and she sounded worried. She was worried. Wendy and Lucy ran back to Lucy's house and found Natsu sweating and shivering at the same time.

"What did he eat today?" Wendy asked.

"Um... Chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and cinnamon... He also ate some fire..." Lucy said.

"Well, that's why." Wendy said. "He told you about mating season, right?" Lucy nodded. "Well, if dragon slayers eat their element during mating season, they get really sick. He'll be fine tomorrow, but you can't be here tonight. You'll have to stay with someone else. You can stay with me and Carla if you want." Lucy looked confused.

"Okay. Can I stay with him for the day?" Wendy nodded. "But if he starts saying anything, tell me. Here's a communication lacrima." Lucy put the lacrima on the desk, and by the time she turned around, Wendy was gone. The day was uneventful, Lucy made Natsu soup, fed it to him, and Natsu slept.

At one point, he said "Hot. Bath. Please?"

Lucy transmitted it through the CL and Wendy got back quickly.

'Give him a COLD bath. Don't get in with him. Wash him quickly. Don't touch the water or him after 5 minutes.' Lucy drew a cold bath.

"Come on Natsu. Let's go. Wendy says I should give you a bath." Natsu mindlessly shuffled to the bathroom and just stood there.

'I guess I have to undress him than...' Lucy thought. After Natsu was naked, she closed her eyes until he got into the bath. Then she put soap on her hands and rubbed his chest and back. She decided that was sufficient. Then she got some of her vanilla shampoo and squirted onto his head, and rubbed it into his wet pink hair. After the shampoo was gone, she checked the clock. She had one minute. Quickly, she put strawberry conditioner in his hair and rinsed it. Then she let him sit for a couple of minutes.

"Okay, time to get out." Lucy said. Natsu stood up, and Lucy handed him a towel.

"Here. Dry off" she said. Then she stuck her hand into the water to pull the drain.

"Crap!" She yelled. The water was about 150 degrees (Fahrenheit). Natsu seemed to respond to her pain. He quickly pulled her hand out of the water.

"Be careful" he said. Then went to put on his clothes. Lucy ran her burned hand under cold water, then saw the sky. It was night.

"Listen, Natsu, I have to leave. I'm gonna stay the night at Wendy's, so please don't wreck or burn down the house." Natsu was already asleep.
