After dinner, Lani excuses herself and went upstairs, Aaliyah asleep in her arms. That left me alone with Abel, who was looking at me with hungry eyes. I raise a sculpted brow, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

I ask in a sickly sweet voice, tilting my head in confusion. He shakes his head and chuckles, "Nothing, but you're really...cute." The hesitation in his words makes me believe there's much more to it than that.

I help myself to a cupcake in the middle of the table. He stands up and makes his way beside me. He stoops down to my ear, "Haven't your mother taught you not to trust a stranger, princess?"

Chills went up my spine in a negative way. I set the cupcake down before I can let it reach my mouth. I shrug off the feeling and cut a glance at him, "What's the fun in doing as you're told?"

He lets out a breathy laugh, "Thinking like that can cause a problem." I turn my head to him, "If you're trying to scare me, it ain't gonna work, papi."

His darkened eyes looks into my soul as he says, "I know who you are, Cabello. I know what you've done. Why you're here." I shift in my seat, scared by what he may know.

"What are you talking about?" He looks at me confused, "What?" I blink a few times. Hallucinations; they're happening again. I shake my head and giggle, "Sorry, what did you say?"

He joins in my laugh and scratches his head, "Wondering if you wanna chill sometime? Smoke a little weed, talk some?" I stand up and run my hands up his toned abdomen.

"How old are you, Abel?" He smiles, "I'm 26." I nod, "Yeah?" He stuffs his hands in his black jeans, "How about you?" I run my fingers through my hair, "I'll be 18 in two weeks."

He nods thoughtfully, licking his lips slyly. "I can wait," he smiles and I return. I shake my head, "Sorry, but I'm not into guys." Lie. I am, but I'm not interested in him.

I want Lani.

His smile fades a bit, then he covers his obvious disappointment with a chuckle. "My bad then."

"It's cool. I do wanna hang out some time, but as friends." He nods then checks his phone. His eyes widen a bit and he rubs the back of his head, "Well, I gotta go. Tell Lani I'm out." He says before leaving out hastily.

Hmm, wonder what his hurry was.

I ascend up the stairs, going towards my room. I see Lani is waiting for me, leaning against the wall across from my room, "Lani, what are you doing in the doorway?" She pushes herself off of the door's pane and walks over to me, chin rising slightly.

"Stay away from Abel," I look at her like she has an extra head. "Who are you to like tell me who I can be with?" I say, crossing my arms over my chest. She sighs, "Sorry, I didn't mean to say it like that. I'm trying to say my brother uses girls. He flirts, he fucks, then he forgets."

"Who said I wanted him? We were just having a conversation," I defend sassily. Her expression reads embarrassment, which is actually a pretty cute look on her.

"Besides, I'm gay," I shrug. Her mood changes to curiousness and she nods. "Oh, uh, well, good night, then," I wave at her as she turns and goes into her room.

I strip off my clothes and got into bed with my underwear. I look up at the unfamiliar white ceiling. My mind racing with images of the sexy, sweet woman. I don't know if I really want her or I just want her to fuck me.

This is gonna be a thrill ride

I feel hands on my shoulders, gently shaking me. "Camila. Mila, wake up." The voice was so familiar, but not a recent voice. I open my eyes slowly and nearly scream. There, standing over me is Dinah.

Her once white shirt is now covered in dark red and brown. Her hair was matted with blood and her forehead dripped the spatters of the red, thick liquid. I sit up slowly, clutching my still aching arm.

"W-W-Wha? How a-are you here?" I ask, lip trembling uncontrollably in fear. She chuckles and runs her hand through her hair, making it stick up due to the sticky substance.

"Came to visit you, Walz." I cover my mouth, hands shaking, "Ch-Chee Chee..." she backs up slightly, "All I did was love you and you killed me." I shake my head, "No," my voice comes out as a whimper.

"Yes. I know what you did, Camila. I know what you did to my son," she points to my stomach and I put my hand over the exposed skin. "No, no, this is just a dream," I put my face in my hands and cry. "Leave me alone. Leave me alone. Please!"

Cold hands make their way around me and I jump. "Hey, Camila. What's wrong? Are you okay?" Lani? I look at her, confusion and tears on my face.

I look around and see no sign Dinah was here. "Wha-?" She stands up, "You okay? Need to sleep with me?" I know that if I sleep with her. I may not see Dinah again, but at the same time, I don't wanna share a bed with a stranger.

She scoffs to herself then, "Sorry, habit. Liyah has nightmares a lot." I shake my head, "It's okay. I-I would like to. If that's okay?" I say carefully. She scratches her head and motions me to follow her.

I follow her across the hall. I feel a heavy hit of cold air and take hold of my arms as we step in. "Sorry, I like sleeping in the cold." I nod, "I-It's ok." She goes into her drawer and tosses me an oversized Oakland Raiders shirt.

I put it on and we ease into bed together. I immediately cuddle up to her. She stiffens a little before hesitantly wrapping an arm around me. I kiss her cheek before burrowing my face into her skin. She has such a pleasant smell to her. Not long after, I fall into a peaceful sleep.

The next morning, we were forced out of sleep by a very hyper 4 year old. "Camie, Mamá! Wake up!!! I hungry, I wan cereal!" I groan and put a pillow over my head.

"Ay, mija, five more minutes, please?" Lani says. "But, Mamá, I'm hungry!!" Lani groans and shakes me, "Mila, wake up. I'll make breakfast." I groan once more, "Nooo....let me sleep."

Aaliyah lets out a giggle, "Mamá, Mommy sweepy." Lani and I look at her with wide eyes. Lani looks at me, then at her, "No, mija, Mommy's in Goodwin."

Aaliyah pouts and looks at me, "My Mommy never sees me. Camie hug me, so her is my mommy now. Pwease, Mamá?"

Again, Lani glances at me and I walk over to them. I take the little girl from her and smile, "I'll be your mommy, princess." She giggles, "Yay! Mommy!" She wraps her little arms around my neck.

I look over at Lani and she had this cute grin on her face. I set the child down and she smiles up at me, "Mommy, Mamá, let's go!!" We watch the bouncy 4 year old race out the door. The fact she wants to call me that because I hugged her is actually very sad.

Her small feet patters down the stairs, "Thank you so much, Camila." I tilt my head to the side, "Why are you thanking me?" We start to head downstairs as she explains, "Liyah has been asking about her mother since I explained to her that I'm technically her dad. Her mom hasn't seen her since she had her."

I cover my mouth in faux sympathy. I honestly don't give a fuck about that woman. Fuck her for leaving them.

"Oh, my God, you know why?" She shakes her head, "After she had Lee-Lee, she gave her to me to watch while she worked. It went on for a few weeks. I gave Baby Girl to her aunt and went to go see her. The front door was opened so I let myself in. She was passed out under the sink with three large bottles of alcohol by her head. I walked out, pissed. She chose that over flesh and blood."

Now, I actually do feel sympathetic.

Tears were starting to form a little, but I manage to hold them back, "I can be her mother, Lani. I may be young, but I can take care of her." Lani smiles and stops walking to turn to me.

"Seriously, you're amazing, Stranger. No one, not even Abe would offer to help raise her. He just babysits, and he barely does that, so thank you." I smile and went to say something, but I was cut off by Lani pulling me into a hug.

Her scent filling up my senses. We pull away after a minute and we lock eyes. A feeling at the pit of my stomach is a feeling I'm always so confused about. "D-Don't you think we should go after her?" I ask with a giggle. "Shit!" She exclaims whilst running down the steps calling after our child.
