Chapter 21 ● Question after question ○

Calum wakes up on the couch he sat on in the therapist's office. He looks around the room confused. "Good morning" Darren greets. Darren's speaking jump scares Calum since the room was really quiet before that. "Did I fall asleep here?" Calum asks. Darren who's in the therapist disguise nods. Calum puts a hand on his head as he has an awful headache.

"Do you have any pain killers?" Calum asks Doctor Gudfeels. "What's wrong?" He replies. "I don't know how I got it, but I have one of the worst headaches I've ever had" he responds. "I shall look for something to help" he responds to Calum. "That would be nice thank you" he replies. Calum takes out his phone while Doctor Gudfeels looks in cabinets and all for some headache relief medication.

Calum's phone is nearly dead when he looks at it. He got so many missed calls and text messages from his friends last night and a few from this morning. He goes on his groupchat to let them know he's fine. Calum: Hey guys, I don't really remember what happened but I just woke up on the couch in the therapist's office I'm safe I guess please don't worry about me
He types and hits the send button.

"What happened last night?" Calum asks Darren aka Dr Gudfeels in this situation. "You passed out for some reason I think you said something about the mind controlling vampires making your head hurt or something" he replies to Calum. "Cade that stupid asshole" Calum mutters. "Who?" He asks Calum. "The vampire's name is Cade" he replies to Darren.

"How long was I unconscious for?" Calum asks curiously. "Since around half an hour after you arrived and you didn't wake up until now" he replies. "Wow! That's long" he responds to Darren. "Why didn't you wake me up?" He adds a question. "I tried to but whatever that vampire did to you was powerful and you wouldn't wake up so I gave up" he answers Calum's question.

"I think I better leave now" Calum tells Darren. "Alright I'll see you later bye" he replies to Calum. "See ya bye" he responds to Darren getting up off the couch he was sitting on.

The walk back to Calum's house is silent other then the outdoor noises that are always there. Soon enough Calum reaches his house. "How did you manage to fall asleep at the therapist's office?" Michael asks Calum curiously as soon he sees him walk in his house. "I didn't" Calum replies to Michael.

"What do you mean?" Luke asks confused. "It was Cade he made me pass out" he replies to Luke. "Are you okay?" Ashton questions Calum. "Yeah I'm fine I guess" he answers Ashton's question. "Damn I feel like I'm in an interview" he adds to his answers. The three of them laugh lightly. "Sorry" Michael replies. "It's okay" Calum responds.

"I'm gonna go rest a bit. My head still kinda hurts" Calum tells his friends. "Alright" they reply in sync. Calum walks upstairs to his bedroom. He goes towards his bed and lies down on it. He tries his best to get some sleep. He's just about to finally drift off to sleep. "Hey Calum!" Darren shouts jump scaring him for the second time today.

"Did you miss me?" Darren questions. "Oh yeah of course I did" Calum answers him sarcastically. "Really?" He asks Calum. "Nope, why would I? Have you ever heard of a thing called sarcasm?" He replies to Darren sassily. "How do you manage to be so sassy even with a headache?" He asks Calum. "I dunno, probably comes naturally to me" he replies to Darren.

"A friend of mine wants to meet you" Darren tells Calum. "Oh really?! Well I hope they're not as annoying as you and your brother" Calum replies to Darren. "I'm not annoying!" Both Cade and Darren defend themselves in unison. "Oh hey Cade nice of you to join the conversation" Calum says to Cade.

"You know I think you're so much like Dare in some ways Calum" Cade comments. "How dare you compare me to your annoying little brother?!" Calum asks Cade clearly annoyed by his comment. "We're nothing alike!" Darren adds to Calum's fury on Cade's  comment. "Okay okay whatever I'm gonna go" Cade replies to the two of them.

"You better get ready to meet her this evening" Darren tells Calum. "I'm not gonna go meet whoever the fuck she is today! I'm not in the mood to go anywhere!" He replies to Darren annoyance visable in his tone. "Okay fine I'll let her know you're not in the mood to meet her today" he replies to Calum. "Thank you, and can you do me a favour and let me rest a bit" he responds to Darren. "Alright fine" he responds back to Calum.

Cade shows up to Darren's house and knocks on his door. Darren opens the door and lets him in. "What do you want Cade?" Darren questions him. "Why do you keep torturing him?" Cade questions Darren in reply. "I'm not I'm just trying to be friends with him" he replies to Cade. "I think you're doing something wrong there then brother" he replies to Darren.

Darren frowns as Cade didn't fully believe his half-lie. "I know" he responds to Cade. "You wanna make him the opposite of being your friend?" He responds a question back. "I'm not discussing this with you" he answers Cade.

"Leave the poor guy alone, you've hurt him enough already" he tells Darren. "You hurt him too, so don't act like you've not been a part of torturing him too. You're such a hypocrite Cade" he replies to him. "I know I've hurt him too but that was only to annoy you" he replies to Darren. "I'm not gonna leave him alone until I feel the need to" he responds to Cade.

"Fine then I won't stand in the way of your plans for him, but it's really cruel what you're doing to him and I hope you'll realise that someday" Cade tells Darren walking out of his house and goes back home.

Cade sits on an armchair in his house. He doesn't want to control Calum's mind and torture him. He realised that he's only hurting Calum and not getting revenge on Darren in any way. He would have to come up with a different plan to punish Darren for everything evil he has done to him in the past.

Cade feels the need to apologise to Calum for all the pain he put him through. He thought that if he could beat Darren at his own game he would get the revenge he wanted against him. However he was wrong. He realised that can't do it this way without Calum getting hurt as well. He just wants Darren to get hurt. Playing his game is not going to torture him it's only gonna make it more fun for him. It's a dangerous game that Cade doesn't want to be involved in playing anymore.
