Chapter 1: A nightmare

"Mom, Dad! " Rin came running to her mother and father who was about to go on their 4 day hiking trip. 

"Are you sure you'll be alright by yourself, dear? " Rin's Mom asked. 

"Of course, mom!  I'll be in middle school soon.  You don't have to pamper me so much! " Rin pouted and crossed her arms. 

"She's right,  Hon.  Our Rin is all grown up! " Rin's father agreed with her. 

They finished packing all the luggage and started the car. 

"Food is in the fridge, dear. And the phone number to the cabin where we will be staying at is on the counter. " her mom reminded. 

"Yes, mom.  Take care!  I love you!!! " Rin waved to her parents and went inside their apartment.

Their family didn't had much,  her father was a Clerk at the office while her mother was a kindergarten teacher.  Both were so stressed out in work so little Rin insisted both to have a break and go hiking.  Both of her parents met on top of a mountain, got a chance to learn about each other then oh~la~la  became a couple and got married.  She never wanted to take away the hobby they fell in love with and pushed them to have fun again even as hard working parents.

On the first night without her parents she had trouble sleeping.  Not because she was alone in the apartment or missed them.  The bad weather was keeping her up,  worried over her parents she got up and texted them. 

'Hey mom?  You guys alright?  The rain is horrible and loud.  You guys aren't cold are you?  Take care. '

Sent! *bleep*

*ring ring! * One new message. 

"Hey,dear. We're fine. It is, isn't it? But we'll manage! Sleep early. Love you!" She smiled and drifted off to dreamland.

But to what she'll wake up to? She'll forever hope it would be a dream.

The next day. It was still pouring outside but not hard like last night. She made breakfast and turned on the television to watch her usual Saturday cartoons. When-

"We interrupt you with this flash news" A reporter began. 

"Here as you can see,  the horrible storm has progressed into a thunderstorm." Rin paid attention.  She wasn't good with thunderstorms.  Always made her cry. 

"A tree has it the cabin nearby and the ones who were staying here died and was devoured by wolves. " Rin's heart skipped a beat when she heard the unbelievable words the reporter said. 

"The couple are not recognizable due to the gruesome event.  Their heads were devoured first.  So anybody who knows them please report to this number immediately, that's all. "

The flash news stopped and her cartoons showed.  She didn't want to believe in what she saw.  The clothes her parents wore were the same to when they left.  Now they actually left her, literally.  All alone. 
Rin bawled in pain ,in agony.  She dropped to the floor and punched it. 

"No!  No!  No!!!!! " she cried out.
"It's my fault!  I killed them I shouldn't have told them to go out hiking!" She kept on blamming herself. 
She even punched her chest. 
Rin couldn't stop crying. 
The last thing she could have done was kiss them good-bye and said it properly since they won't be coming back. 

A few days later.  Rin called the police and told them it was her parents.  She couldn't bare to see them. How can she?
Even now she couldn't even recognize them.  To how bloody they were. 
They took some blood samples to find out if it was a match. But to her suprise.  It didn't. Not to any of the adults.  She was already having problems of her own and now this. 

"This can't be.  No.  I'm their child.  Here...  See! " she took out a family album and pointed to what her parents wore then and now. 

The police did some investigation.  It was clear to them.  After they found some documents.  Adoption documents.  Given to the names of her parents. 

Rin read everything.  She wasn't their child.  She was adopted.  Rin's senses darkened and finally her body couldn't take it anymore and the stress built up, she collapsed.

When she woke up she was in a hospital gown. Her hand full of tubes.

Kagome Higurashi,  her cousin was there beside the bed.  Holding her hand.

"Kagome... " Rin said.

Kagome held her hand tighter.
"Rin, thank goodness!  You're awake. You've been asleep of 5 days. " Kagome started to cry.

"Ugh... " was all Rin could make. 

"What were you thinking?  Not eating or sleeping for 3 days?!  Are you trying to kill youself?! " Kagome said in concern. 

Rin looked away hoping that would actually happen.  Kagome was sharp,  she saw it. 

"You are! To what?  Go to uncle and auntie?! " Kagome blurted. 

"I killed them, Kagome-Onee-chan,  I killed them! " Rin breaks down in tears. 

"If I hadn't told them to go hicking this wouldn't happen!  It's my fault !!! blame me.  Blame me!  I should've died not them! " Rin screamed. 

Kagome hugged her cousin. 
"No, don't say that Rin.  It's not your fault , nobody expected this. Heck,  wanted this" she shushed her .

"And I also found out I'm adopted...!!! " Rin cried out

"Did my old parents threw me away?  They never wanted me?  They never loved me???? " Rin bawled.  Nurses came in and tried to calm tge patient.  Her blood pressure refused to go down,  she was hyperventilating and couldn't breathe.  No choice. They injected some sleeping syrum into her veins and soon she calmed down and got back to her slumber.  Hoping everything that happened before was just a dream or hoping she is never to wake up again ,seeing it as an appropriate punishment to what she believes she has done.
