The first time he saw her, he immediately felt they would not be friends. They were total opposites; she was quiet an lonely; he was obnoxious and had friends on everything side of him. He would crack a joke about the way she looked, and the room would erupt in cackles, but she wouldn't even acknowledge it because she was so invested in her book.

One day he'd had enough, he went up to her in the hallway before school had started and ripped her beloved book from her small pale hands. Horror crossed her face as she witnessed it. She glanced from the book, to his face, and back to her book. She held one of her hands out, palm facing the ceiling, and whispered, "may I please have that back?"

"May I please take you out on a date?" He replied.
"W-what?"
"You heard me; I want to learn more about you."
A small smile appeared on her face and she nodded.
Yes, he knew they would not be friends, they would be much more than that.
