Hi. My name is Emily. I'm no where near your idea of an average teen. There's something about me. I'm not like anybody else. You see, the thing is, I'm SuperNatural. It only occurs during the daytime, in the daylight. Basically, when the sun hits my skin, I turn into a morbid, devil like creature. Weird, right? Its only happened once and thats when my curfew was put in place. Which means I'm not aloud to leave the house in the daytime. Momma says nobody is allowed to know or they'll take me away. So I listen. It's always been like this since I was young so I'm used to it.
My rules were once the sun goes down I'm aloud to leave and I have a 12am curfew. Most nights I don't even leave. I only have one friend, named Chloe. We've known each other since we were young. She's the only one outside of my family who knows. I saw on social media that there's a party going on tonight. I might go. Depends on what Chloe thinks. She's a party junkie, so I wouldn't see why not.
About an hour ago I got a text from Chloe saying we were 'soooooo going to the party'. I started to get ready by planning out an outfit. I had two outfit options. Option #1 was red cargo pants with a black halter top and platform Doc Martens. Option #2 was a dark blue bodycon dress with black pumps. After looking at my options for a good 15 minutes, I decided the first option was more fitting of my personality. I changed into the outfit and put my hair in a high, slicked back ponytail. As I was doing my makeup, momma's head popped in my doorway.
"Hey sweetheart. Just coming in to let you know the sun is down now and you can leave whenever."
"Thanks mom. I'm having Chloe pick me up in thirty minutes. Also, do you think I could stay an hour past curfew? I swear I'll be responsible! Please," I pleaded.
"Fine. 1am sharp," she sighed.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
I continued to work on my makeup. I went for a neutral look to go with my somewhat neutral outfit. I get a text from Chloe saying she was parked outside my house. I grabbed my phone, stuck a piece of gum in my mouth and met her outside.
"Heyyy girl! Are you ready to partayyyy?!" She said.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I replied, wiping my sweaty palms on my pants.
This is the first party I've every been to, beleive it or not. You'd think I'd have a lot more time on my hands for parties considering I'm only aloud out of the house during the night. But no, parties weren't really my scene. Only this time I'm ready to try something different. I look out the window as an Alec Benjamin song plays faintly on the radio. If I Killed Someone For You, to be exact. He's always been one of my favourite artists. His songs are so real and relatable. Soon before I know it, we arrive at the house which is already swarmed with teens holding red solo cups.
"Come on, let's go have fun!" Chloe exclaimed.
"Promise me you won't leave me alone by myself."
"Promise. Now come on!"
As a teen who was never aloud to go out during the day, I never really developed social skills. Chloe, on the other hand is the social master. If she left me alone, I'd probably end up sitting awkwardly on a couch full of stoners and drunk couples. We walked into the house, Chloe already saying hi to about 5 people. I just trailed along behind her.
"Harper, Hey!" Chloe yelled over the blasting music. I had remembered Harper's name in the text conversation earlier with Chloe. Harper was the host.
"Chloe, hey girl! Long time no see! Oh...." she pears over Chloe's shoulder to make eye contact with me. "..And you must be Emily?"
I sent her a soft welcoming smile. "That's Me."
"How are you so gorgeous? I'm jealous," Harper said with a giggle. I felt a blush creep onto my face. I have never been good a receiving compliments.
"Anyways, drinks are over there," she points to a countertop with various alcoholic beverages on it. "The patio and pool are over there," she points to a set of glass doors. "And... yeah! That's all you need to know, have fun!" She beamed and walked away, curls bouncing with every step she took.
I look over and to my not-so surprise, Chloe was already gone. Great. I decide I might as well get a drink while I face this socially awkward situation. Maybe it will help me loosen up a little. I grabbed a glass and made myself a strawberry cocktail. I basically know how to make any drink. My dad's a bartender and hey, I had to do something with my free time during the day. Like I guessed when I walked into this place, I found myself walking towards the couch full of, yep, you guessed it, stoners and drunk couples. As I'm sitting there I start to get irritated by the music. All modern pop is the same these days. Nobody knows real music and it's genuinely upsetting. Their loss. I get up and decide to go out to the patio and see if there's anyone I can try and talk to considering I still haven't found Chloe. I walk out and see lots of people but one boy sitting alone at a table caught my eye. So much that I actually stumbled a bit. He was gorgeous. Dirty blonde hair, broad shoulders and bright blue eyes like the ocean. I stood there admiring his beauty from afar for a good minute. I decided he was lonely enough for me to talk to him. I walked over to the table and sat across from him. He looked up at me and from just the eye contact alone I got butterflies.
"You look lonely. Did your friends abandon you?" I said with a smile.
"Actually, yeah. What about you? Where are your friends?"
"I came with my best friend Chloe and she promised she wouldn't leave me yet here we are."
He laughed and his smile almost made me say 'awh' out loud. But I contained myself.
"Well, I'm Jacob. I suppose I can keep you company until you find your friend again."
"Nice to meet you Jacob, my names Emily."
"So, who's your favourite band or artist? Random question, I know. But I love music and I love to hear about it too."
"Hmm... I have a lot of favourites. I'd have to say Sum41. Ever heard of them? They're pretty old."
"Are you kidding? I love them! Definitely one of my favourites too."
It made me happy that we already had something in common. I already knew Jacob and I were going to get along really well.
__Our conversation lasted for ages, that we didn't even realize people began to leave. There was almost nobody on the patio anymore at that point. The glass door sliding open caught my attention and as I looked over I saw a flustered Chloe was speed walking over to me. She grabbed my hand and started dragging me away from the table.
"Chloe Stop!" She kept going. I didn't even get Jacob's number. How am I supposed to conatct him again. "B-bye!" I yelled towards Jacob before Chloe dragged me through the house and to her car.
"Chloe, what did you do that for? You just dragged me away from a really nice boy I met."
"I'll explain later. But for now, uh, sorry I left you alone.."
"It's fine, I guess. Normally I'd be mad but I met Jacob from it, so it's okay."
"Oh so that's his name. Jacob. I like it. I'm tired now so I won't be paying attention but tomorrow I'm gonna come over and you can tell me all about it," Chloe said then yawned, as she pulled up to my house.
"Thanks Chlo. I'll see you tomorrow."
I stepped out of the car and went inside, shivering from how cold it got outside in such little time. I took off my shoes at the door and tip toed up the stairs. Mostly because I'm 15 minutes over my extended curfew and was not looking to get in trouble after such a good night. I reached my room and immediately changed into my comfy pajamas. I got into my bed and threw my covers over myself. Of course I was slightly upset that I don't have any of Jacob's info to talk to him again. We ended up having so much in common and he is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. But, I know, that if the universe wants us to meet again, then we will. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep thinking about the amazing night I just had with an amazing boy. There's a bit of anxiety, because if I get close to him, at some point he will have to know that I'm SuperNatural.
lol hope u enjoyed now let's see if I actually continue dis book lol
