Serena is online.
"Are you really ill?" He typed.
"No, well yes, but it's not swine flu" She replied.
"Oh good, was worried ;) so you're coming to London right?"
"Not too sure yet, I'll ask Sarah and let you know"
Serena is offline.
"Please come" he wrote just when Serena left the cyber world.
He never sent it and she never saw it.
Theo
Theo James, an 18 year old, has a huge crush on Serena, a 16 year old. I say 'crush' but in reality, it was more of an admiration from afar. She didn't know about this undying affection and she didn't need to know.
Theo James lived in Sussex, whereas Serena lived in London, West London. Long distance didn't work for everyone.
Theo James was in collage, looking for any job, while Serena was in Sixth Form, working hard on her A levels. He couldn't distract her from her studies. She wanted to study Classics and become a successful archeologist.
Theo James was two years older than Serena. That wasn't really a problem for him but she might find it weird and he really didn't want her to think that he's weird.
Theo James was a good friend of hers. Not best friends. He wasn't worthy of such honour. Confessing his love would ruin that friendship and would definitely not get him any closer to becoming it.
Theo James..
Serena
Serena Ericsson has always had something for Theo, but he doesn't seem to notice, let alone have similar feelings for her. Sure, he wants her to go to Chloe's birthday party in London but that doesn't mean anything, it doesn't mean that he wants to spend the whole night with her. He has probably already asked Sarah to go as well. It's no big deal *sigh*.
Serena Ericsson likes ancient history, old art, finds anything to do with the Holocaust interesting, and so does Theo James. They have had plenty of interesting conversations about it. Perhaps that is why they got so close.
It was so easy to talk to Theo about these things. The conversation just flowed and they would spend hours on the same topic. But they never got personal. No talking about boyfriends and girlfriends, about feelings and confessions.
Serena Ericsson wanted to travel, to see the world, get married and have children.. with Theo James. He would be such a perfect partner, a husband and one day a father. She would sometimes fantasise about what their children would look like. Would they have his brown hair? Would they have her brown eyes?
Serena Ericsson was friends with the same people Theo James was friends with. They all enjoyed the same artists, actors and actresses, directors and musicians. Serena was closest to Theo more than anyone else in that friendship circle.
With so many things in common, why couldn't Theo see that she was right for him, the one for him? Not that either one of them said anything.
Serena's illness subsided and she was able to make it to Chloe's 18th in London. She was invited along with Theo, Sarah, Hannah and John. Chloe wasn't a close friend, merely an acquaintance, a friend only worthy of cheap champagne for their 18th. They had met through their parents. They had to keep each other's company in the many boring dinner parties that they were dragged to. In fact, that's where they had all met, but Chloe had her own life and own friends and didn't get too acquainted with the rest of us. Which, I have to admit, I didn't hate, because that was one less 18 year old for Theo to like.
Theo was a bit of a ladies' man. He wasn't an open slut, he had charm and he just liked to flirt, a lot, with a lot, even me. Girls liked him, boys got on with him and men wanted to be his age again.
After getting ready, wearing another one of my 'going out to impress' dresses, I waited for Theo and Sarah downstairs.
They came, greeted my parents with due respect and after a boring conversation shared between Theo and my father about cricket, we left. My parents liked Theo, they thought that he was a good kid and came from a very good background. Throughout the years, Theo had gotten closer to my father, discussing sport and antiques. Of course, they would have approved of a relationship between the two of us.
