Raven's POV
I take my hand off of the door knob so I can wipe away the tears that are still streaming down my face.
As I look up I see the nurse that walked in to check on James standing in front of me. I don't bother saying anything though. This unknown women has seen me at my weakest point, and I'm quite ashamed of it.
I give the nurse a small smile before stepping around her so that I can exit this hospital hopefully leaving my pain behind. As I step around the nurse to leave I feel a hand wrap around my wrist.
I turn around to see the nurse looking at the ground. She looks at me again before speaking.
"I know I haven't worked at this hospital that long, but for the past two months I see you leave his room the exact same way. I know Dr.Rogers keeps telling you the same thing every time you come to check on James, but you have to understand that we can't actually do something to bring him back. He has to fight his way back to the real world." The nurse lets go of my wrist and rubs her thumbs under my eyes to wipe away the tears.
"There is no reason to keep crying. You have to be strong even though he isn't here with you. He will wake up you just have to believe." She lowers her hands and starts to look around before stepping closer to me.
"I'm not suppose to tell you, but I think you have the right to know what's going on. The doctors have been running a bunch of test, psychologist doctors. The psych doctor thinks the reason your brother is still asleep is because he's afraid of something. It's like he knows that by sleeping he can protect himself and possibly even the people that he cares about." I rub my hands down my face not believe a word that's coming out of her mouth.
"So you're telling me that my brother thinks he is protecting not only himself, but me as well by staying asleep?" The nameless nurse nods her head before looking around to make sure no one is listening.
"I know you aren't going to believe me, but next time you come don't scream at him to come back. It's could give him more of a reason to want to stay in the state that he is currently in. Bring someone that he knows could possibly put you in danger. It could trigger something in him that can bring him back."
"So you're saying that I should bring someone he doesn't trust to prove that even though he is asleep, that doesn't mean that I am truly safe?" She nods her head before stepping back.
"I hope I helped you in some kind of way, but I really have to go. If you ever wanna talk to me again my name is Joann and I'd be willing to answer any of your questions." Joann gives me a small smile before turning around and walking down the hall.
I watch as Joann's figure starts to get smaller before turning back around and looking at my brothers door one more time before heading to the elevator and riding down to the lobby. I give the receptionist one last smile as I walk past her desk and out the door.
I dig into my pants to pull out my keys as I approach my car, but when I look up I see someone leaning against my car door.
"Finally. I thought I was gonna have to lead a search party just to find you." Harry says with a slight smirk on his face.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him in a low voice as I get closer to my car.
"I saw your car parked out here and I thought something bad had happened. I just wanted to check on you." He rubs the back of his neck with a slight smile forming on his face.
"Nothing bad has happened. I just had to check on some stuff." I whisper to him as I finally reach my car door.
"What did you have to check?" He asks as I try to open my door.
