We went back to the shelter, had dinner, and then went to bed. I was so confused about all this. I mean, I have a guardian who’s in the form of a coconut. Who wouldn’t be confused if someone had amnesia and then realized they have a guardian in the form of a coconut?!
I woke up the next during the middle of the night, seeing that no one was awake. I saw the coconut on the other side of the room and guessed that that was probably Rick.
“Are you Rick?”
Apparently, either that was a real coconut, or Rick was on sleep mode. I didn’t want to feel like a moron, so I just assumed he was on sleep mode. Kyo woke up, and then told me, “Hey, has the princess remembered anything yet?”
“No, I can’t remember anything. I think I’ll never be able to remember anything. I’m sorry.”
“Its fine, if we keep trying, I’m sure you can remember. Do you remember anything from before you ended up here on the island?”
“Again, I can’t remember anything. Maybe someone knows about my past, you know, before I ended up here. The problem is you said my family was killed, so I don’t really have any record of my past.”
“Well, don’t you have any really close friends back at home? If you can’t remember, you just have to try to find them.”
“Well, I’m pretty sure I did, but I’m not sure who they are. Plus, I don’t even know where I lived.”
“Right, well we’ll figure it out. Ryoma and I will help you remember.”
“Okay, well, thank you for helping me.”
I gave Kyo a hug out of gratitude. He did that adorable blushing act that I loved. I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so freaking cute!
Ryoma finally woke up saying, “Morning guys. Hey Sakura, have you remembered anything at all yet?”
“Nope, I was just telling Kyo that I still can’t remember anything. Hey Ryoma, I’m not sure if you did this before I lost my memory, but why do you always seem to be the last one up?”
“I don’t know, it’s just, at home, since my parents used to fight all the time, I never did get any sleep. I guess that after all that lack of sleep; I’m finally able to catch up on it. Though that might take a couple years.” he tried to say acting a little funny at the same time.
“Oh, wait a minute, your parents used to fight all the time?”
“Yeah, I guess you forgot the story. I lived in a terrible house, where my parents used to fight all the time. Eventually, I got so sick of it I ran away. Then I ended up at a shipping dock, where I was stored into a crate and put on a boat. The boat I was on went through a storm that was near the island.”
“Oh, so that explains it. Hey Kyo, how did you end up here?”
“Well, I was a stowaway on a boat. Some guys found me in the cargo, stuffed me in a crate, and threw me overboard.”
“Okay, next question. Why were you a stowaway anyways?”
Kyo was silent, so I guess he didn’t want to talk about it. Wait a minute, I think I remember something!
“Guys, I remember something! I don’t think it’s very important, but it’s something.”
The guys looked really happy, and then Ryoma said, “You did? That’s great! What did you remember?”
“Well, the first time I met Kyo, he hesitated before he told me his story. I think I know why he acted like that now, but that’s all I remember.”
“So that’s all you can remember? Well, it’s a start. So what do you mean ‘I think I know why Kyo acted like that now’?”
“I said that because the first time, he didn’t mention anything before the boat, and he did it again. I’m pretty sure that mean that before Kyo got on the boat, he lived a pretty horrible life. Am I right Kyo?”
When I looked to where Kyo was sitting, he was gone. Ryoma and I were running around the island, trying to find Kyo. I got really tired, so I stopped Ryoma and told him, “Look, maybe if we split up it will be a little bit easier to find him.”
“No, it’s too dark for us to split up. It would be way to dangerous if we split up now. Plus, you don’t know your way around the island anymore, or at least for now, so if you got lost too, that would be really bad. I would say we should just leave and search for him in the morning, but he could be in serious danger.”
“You’re right, is there anywhere we haven’t checked yet?”
“Well, there is the star spot.”
We ran to the star spot, hoping that Kyo would be there. Sadly, he wasn’t. I forgot about the map that was stuck in my head, so I wasn’t very much help right now for directions.
“Are you sure we’ve looked everywhere? Maybe he ran towards an area we don’t know about.”
“Well, I think I may know where he is.”
I was confused. I didn’t know what he meant, but I just went along with it. We ran through the forest, or at least the one we didn’t know about, and then saw something really weird. There was a tree with blue leaves and strange pinkish vines hanging down off the branches. The trunk was a bluish color and glowing. It truly was a beautiful and mysterious piece of nature. When I looked below the tree, I saw Kyo, cradled up into a ball with his face buried in his arms.
“Kyo, you’re okay! Thank god, don’t do that to us! You made me panic like crazy!”
Something that was strange was that Kyo didn’t lift his face; he just stayed in that position. I began to hear sobbing, and then said, “Kyo is something wrong?”
When Kyo lifted his face slightly to glance at us, I saw he had tears in his eyes.
