WORTHY (II) REWRITTEN.
a m. yandere! prince x f. reader story by alissabex

a young monarch destined to rule the place he calls home, is he worthy of his crown?

A prince, the son of a monarch. A man born into a noble bloodline and burdened with the expectancy of continuing the lineage for generations on ends. A man of royal status set to rule upon the unavoidable death of those who ruled before.

Surrounded in golds and silvers, fine fabrics and many expectations on him from the moment he took his first breath. Those prospects were what would cause his inevitable demise, his downward spiral into madness. Albeit, carrying a stoic demeanour throughout. As he relieved himself of all his burdens & troubles by 'disciplining' those who defied him. His worries melting away like the blood that dripped from the walls.

He wasn't a madman, just a corrupt one. Someone without his kind-hearted mother to teach him sympathy and empathy. But a stained father that taught him to rule with fear and apathy. For peoples blood to turn cold in his presence, to be mindful around him and to know your place beneath him.

Although, he knew for certain he could rule single-handedly his father refused to abide. Saying that a queen would benefit the city more than if he rule alone. Not to mention he would need a suitor to carry on the royal bloodline for the future of the country...and many other reasons he couldn't bother to listen to. Many complaints and things about 'relationships' and 'loneliness'.

Even with the constant bickering about the matter, the outcome never changed. He would marry a young girl —preferably of noble descent— and upon their wedding day, will he be crowned the next king. As defiant as he was, he couldn't out rule the king's decree. And oh, he hated it.

. . .

Stormy clouds and heavy rain drops. The loud pattering of water as flashes of light from the lighting come through the intricate stained glass. Painting the room in a multitude of colours in bright bursts. Candle light illuminating the large hall that is the throne room. As the booming thunder consumed the sound of the rather upset king.

"He still refuses to marry?! That boy, he will be the death of me I swear it!" His voice almost challenged the boisterous thunder, as he paced back & forth along his throne. He clutched his fists in frustration, his many gold and silver rings dug into his skin. As he sighs,

"Gods, what will I do with that boy... He barely spare a mere glance at any of the suitors I've provided for him! Barely talks to them and claims them rude and 'chatty'" His majesty babbles as he exasperatedly sits on his large bedazzled throne with his head clutched in his wizened hands.

"Your majesty, if I may..." The king waves his fingers for the man to continue,

"Well, maybe we should be looking past the ladies heritage. After all, the prince advised if he were to marry it'd be to the 'pure of heart' so he said..." The advisor, Alexander, says hesitantly. Being careful with his words seeing as the king was already in a not-so-pleasant mood. A loud cackle echoed through the hall, as the king clutched his stomach from his rambunctious laughter. Wiping away the tears of amusement that pricked his amber eyes.

"Pure of heart? My boy is quite a jest, what could a pure heart provide to our great kingdom?" The rest of his words blurring into the loud battering of heavy rain outside against the elegant stained glass.

WHAT COULD A PURE HEART PROVIDE?

Perhaps a kind queen wouldn't truly be good for the kingdom. After all, who would want a maiden that would throw celebrations and festivals for the people? Spending money to renovate the already luxurious castle would be much more beneficial.

Or perhaps a hardworking queen would absolutely disgrace the nations image! After all, who wants a queen that could help around the town in her free time? Being a prissy brat and putting minimal effort into everything would do wonders for the kingdom!

Maybe a clever queen who could help her husband decide with political issues and agreements across other nations would destroy the economy! A queen that leaves everything to her husband and simply smiles and waves would cause the city's reputation to skyrocket!

What could a pure heart provide? As the king rambled on about the economic and political benefits of a duchess, princess or even lady-in-waiting. The prince stood outside by the large window panes, watching the rain water the large gardens. He sighs: as he hears the kings muffled voice through the thick mahogany doors.

"I will settle this myself, he can't deny every suitor I throw at him. Eventually—"

Even at the age of twenty, his father still treated him like an insolent child. It pissed him off to no end, his father thought of him as 'unstable' in a way. He ran his hands through his thick snowy locks, tugging on the hairs in frustration. He sighed before putting his hands in his pockets and walking through the dark candle-lit halls. The flash of white light every now and then. As his grey brown eyes seemed empty and cold.

Thinking back to the nights he would curl up in his mother's warm embrace in the cold night. When he was once afraid of the loud thundering and lighting. Crawling into his parents bed seeking comfort. His mother lulling him to sleep with a soft lullaby.

Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly

Lavender's green

When I am queen, dilly, dilly

You shall be king...

As he walks through the silent halls, candles slowly burning out as he began to hum the tone he had heard so long ago. A tone that brought him comfort, support, and great sadness. A tone that once brought him joy now could make him shed a tear.

Without his knowledge, that tone wouldn't be the only thing that brought him comfort. Someone would soon bring him much more joy and love then he could ever imagine. Along with an obsessive and uncontrollable madness.

But the question is, were you prepared for your biggest mistake and regret in life? And were you what he was expecting...

WERE YOU A SNARKY PRINCESS OR SHY
MAIDEN?

WERE YOU WRAPPER IN SILK OR COVERED IN RAGS?

A GREEDY BRIDE OR LOVING WIFE?

BENEVOLENT OR PRIDEFUL?

HARDWORKING OR PRISSY?

PRODIGY OR MISTAKE?

WERE YOU EVERYTHING HE COULD EVER WANT?
