Drowning

Living in a rich family has its ups and downs, but all I see is downs. People constantly parading you everyday with unnecessary questions.
"Mayura let's go shopping! Mayura how's your parents work coming along? Mayura let's be best friends!"
I honestly prefer living a low status in society. But it's something I guess I should be grateful for having. I live everyday to the max with a few people I've known almost all my life. I try my best to keep my circle small especially after the break in incident at my parent's job. People were able to find where we live, how we live, where we go. Thankfully Sai was able to patch up the broken files in the company.

My name is Mayura Yumi, a 10 year old child. I live in the Azuma region of Dagda which is a very peaceful place to be in right now. The famous flowers here only bloom once every 5 years in the gardens of Onleú. My family tells me I'm a very lucky child to be born close to the date of the Shakuhachi ritual in the year when they bloom. The flowers are by the natural hot springs that extends for over countless miles. In between the hot springs they construct a base for the ritual to take place. Only specific people are chosen to be part of each scene in the dance, acts, and performances. I was chosen along with Weikla (or Kla for short) to dance the dance of Saku. It's the most important part because it's at this moment when the moons each peak at their brightest in the night sky. The light makes the flowers bloom and release an aroma so great it makes the people inhale deeply.
So, it goes like this:
We dance. We stop. A silence dedicated for the inhale period. Stem pores release hundreds of thousands of fluctulights into the sky. We end our dance.

Then the famous Grand Fireworks roar the night sky into life swirling the fluctulights around them. I'm probably the most excited person in Dagda right now. Dagda wasn't always so magical and booming with life as it was in its history. My grandparents told me before their great grandparents the falling of stars period came down on Chikyu. This caused a great deal of damage to the entire planet, but the outcome of it was unexpected. It somehow made the environments around Chikyu so much more complicated than what it was. Plants began reacting to the substances the rocks put into the ground. It's as if the plants gained a mind of their own.

Mama
They already did have a mind of their own May
Mayura
I know Ma but it was way different than how it is now right Oba?
Oba
Hai! Don't listen to my daughter she never was interested in Dagda's history
Mama
It's not an important thing to know, a waste of time, you should study more instead of looking up the past that already happened
Oba
But why not know how we came to be as a society? Doesn't that interest you May
Mayura
Hai, but c'mon Ma! Please learn just a little? Just for my Birthday pleeeeease???
Mama
I'm not sure if I'll have time this week since we're preparing the people for the festival and moving the probes to the next step in testing. Papa has been sleeping at the facility so I'm going to go cheer him up
Mayura
Oh! Can you give him this then?
Mama
But aren't you using it right now?
Mayura
I am but doesn't he want it back?
Mama
(grin) It was a gift Mayura
Mayura
No it wasn't Ma he said to-
Mama
take care of it yes but not return it
Mayura
I know I heard him say "return it when you're done with it"
Mama
He did say that but remember what happened with grandpas eggnog?
Mayura
Ohhhhhhhhhh yeah
Oba
I'm glad the video wasn't tossed around the family
Mama
But it was Mama you just don't remember
Mayura
(holding back laugh) Almost the entire family was affected by the eggnog haha
Mama
(sigh) Sadly it was
Oba
Must've affected me too apparently
Mama
Alright I really wish I could stay and help but I have to go help out the company
Mayura
It's ok Mama we understand
Mama
(whispers) Grandma doesn't
Oba
You really don't need to be working in that god awful place, it's too much
Mama
See?
Mayura
Yeah
Mama
Ok bye bye! Love you May, love you Mama!
Mayura
Love you too!
Oba
*hmph*

Mom leaves in a rush as usual and Oba stays grumpy only for a little bit as scheduled. At this point I'm used to my parents not being at home anymore. It just gets to me when they act as if it's their first time leaving for a while making me feel like I'm drowning everyday. I support grandmas standpoint in this chaotic family. So I go with my best friend Kla and roam around the city practicing wearing our dresses in public. They say it helps build confidence and a strong bond for the ritual. We only have a 2 weeks left until the Shakuhachi event happens, so I'm pouring all of my excitement into it. Hopefully it sparks something new into my life.
