Author J.K. Rowling envisioned this place, Diagon Alley, in her Harry Potter book series, which tells the story of an orphaned boy who discovers he's a wizard. In the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry receives his acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and travels to Diagon Alley to get his school supplies.
