Chapter 5: Falling in love at a coffee shop
“So it happened, huh, you got with Dessy boy hey hey?” April taunts.
“April leave me alone,” I say blushing and eating my cornflakes,
“Did you get down and dirty?” She wiggles her eyebrows.
I choke on my cornflakes, spluttering all over the clean bench top. Luke smirks from where he is lounging on a deck chair out on the balcony.
Lily starts laughing aloud along with Callum, who seems to think that everything April says is hilarious and Jack gives me a big seductive grin. Grant just glances between Des and I, an intrigued look on his face.
“Did you have a nice smoochie smooch?” Callum snorts, April laughs.
I feel the blush creeping up my face, I hide my face behind my hands, everyone starts to laugh, except Des.
Laughter fills the room and my face gets brighter and brighter under my hands. Why are they doing this to me, they know I hate this much attention.

“Seriously guys, leave her alone!” Des yells suddenly, storming over from his position in the door frame, he grabs my hand and we run down the hallway and out the front door.
We slow down to a jog, then slow again. Now we are walking down the footpath, with the beach on our right.
“I’m sorry about that, I, um, wouldn’t have kissed you if I knew that was going to happen,” Des says suddenly, squeezing my hand.
“Des-“ I start to say,
“No, gracie, let me finish. I am so sorry for putting you through that,” Des says,
“Des shut up!” I blurt, “I have a massive crush on, and I have for ages, you have no idea how hard this is to tell you,” I blush so hard, by cheeks flaming red.
“You’re kidding right?” Des looks shocked, “I have liked you since year 7 but Jack always told me you liked other guys!”
“That Jack! He told me not to tell you because you didn’t like me like that and it would be too awkward between the groups!” I giggle.
He reached out a hand and cups my face, and soflty and ever so sweetly he says, “Gracie, do you remember how we used to always go to that old Coffee Shop after Jack’s basketball games?” I nod and he opens his mouth again but this time to sing:
“I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
Yes There's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the paths that your eyes wander down
I want to come too
I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
No one understands me quite like you do
Through all of the shadowy corners of me
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
Yes there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the waters that make your eyes shine
Now I'm shining too
Because
Oh
Because I've fallen quite hard over you
If I didn't know you I'd rather not know
If I couldn't have you I'd rather be alone
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
All of the while
All of the while
All of the while it was you, you,”
He kisses me and I melt. My legs turn to butter and jelly, I turn to putty in his hands. Darn, this boy has me going insane.
‘Gracie,” Des pants as we come up for air,
“Yes Dessy,” I stare into his gorgeous chocolate brown eyes.
“Will you go out with me, Grace Stone?”
“Do you really need to ask? Yes!”
He picks me, and swirls me around in a circle, maybe I can have a happily ever after.
