Running through the forest, lost and cold stuck in a thunderstorm at midnight with no shelter around for miles. The clothes of the boy began to dirty, and the wet blouse he wore plastered onto his chest. His boots sunk in the mud up to his ankle, and his pants were beginning to tear with mud seeping into the fabric. The hooded cape was the only protection to hide himself from the enemies and himself from the harsh weather. River had escaped his hometown after being framed with the murder of his recent librarian, one who he loved and cherished, the one who gave him a roof over his head and supper to come home to after a long days of work of putting away the books left out by children and elders.

River had been through a lot these past two years, both of his parents had passed on. He was taken by his aunt at first, then once she was gone, the librarian of his town took care of him. He wasn't the reason for his death. He loved the caregiver as much as he loved his parents. The fact that friends and neighbors from his town had threaten him this night, made him feel alone.

So there he finally was able to sit after following the small stream of water that almost looked as if nothing was there, but was disturbed by the heavy droplets from the sky. His back laid on the hard, uncomfortable bark of a tree while hugging his legs together, shivering and grieving for the lost of the last person who trusted him. He couldn't go on, there was no reason to at this point. River gazed at the sky above despite the stars being hidden by the darkness of the clouds. He began praying to the gods and the moon itself to hear his plead.
"Please...Give me any kind of sign for me to continue to live here." His delicate voice trembled as he spoke to himself, hoping something or someone would hear him.

From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a light. He turned to look to see, hoping the mob who had came for him wasn't there. But instead, an old, worn out castle..in the middle of the deep forest?
"How strange..." he mumbled to himself. But it seemed as if someone had lived there since the fire inside the lanterns surrounding the house had hinted this clue. River decided to investigate. He hid as much as he could just to see if there was any type of security around. Lucky for him, there was no human or animal around to blow his cover.

Once he got inside the gate, he found himself suddenly lost in a beautiful front yard. There he found a huge garden with varieties of flowers, trees, rose bushes and so much more. He was in awe at how magnificent this place suddenly was. But of course, some plants were terribly damaged by the sky crying so intensely. He made his way over the bridge which seemed that the stream earlier was connected to the large river below the bridge. He made his way to the front door. A tall door, seemed to be made up of walnut but seemed to be in good condition. He gazed at the exterior designs for awhile, touching the beautifully molded designs carved onto the stone walls. He got lost at everything and forgot why he was there.

Suddenly, rattling came from the door, as if someone lived there and heard River.
River snapped out of his daze from being startled. And there, the old walnut door slowly creaked open, nothing to see from the inside for a moment, until a handsome, pale young lad with pink eyes like carnations, that looked as if they were glowing, River got lost in them.
The young male saw River shivering and wearing nothing but filthy, wet clothes from the pouring rain. He held onto a candle that was lit to get a glimpse at River closely.

"Oh, you poor thing... Come in please, let's get you warmed up." He spoke aloud, offering his hand out to this boy freezing from the rain.

-Hello there friends!! Id like to say this is based off a silly (somewhat) prompt I found online and I've been dying to create characters for this and here they are!! Im finally making a small story.

Id like to point out that Im not a writer, I don't seek of writing as a profession or anything, i love to write for fun and this is merely it. Writing stories for my ocs is what i love to do.
