Chapter 1-Solution

Excited was definitely not the word to describe how Yui was feeling at the moment. She was ecstatic! Prom was a week from today and Yui couldn’t wait to experience her first prom ever. The third years explained it as magical and enchanting like a fairy tale. As long as you had the perfect date and perfect dress.

“Hey Yui-chan!”

Yui glanced over in the general direction of where the voice came from to find her friend Chiyo running over to her. Her beautiful red hair styled in pigtails decorated with one white ribbon on each.

“Hello Chiyo-chan, what’s the matter?”

“Have you picked your prom dress already?"

Yui looked at her and shook her head sadly. She never had the time because of the boys. Always bugging her, teasing her, and constantly putting her life in danger every time they suck too much blood. Not only does she have to deal with the Sakamaki brothers, she now has to deal with the Mukami brothers as well.

“Ah no, I haven’t. Why do you ask?"

“Isn’t it obvious,” she said as she sat down next to her friend. “I want you to go dress shopping with me!”

First the thought seemed to appeal to the young blond, after all it would be a fun time to go dress shopping with your friends, however she didn’t think the boys would easily let her go without someone tagging along. Yui definitely didn’t want to put her dear friend, or anyone, in danger.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think I can.” Yui hesitated to come up with an excuse. “I have a lot of stuff do. You know? Like chores, homework, and walking the dog…”

Chiyo narrowed her eyes, “You’re lying. we don’t have any homework today and if you had a dog you would’ve bugged me everyday about how cute he or she is.”

Yui gulped and tried to avoid her friend’s eyes. This is bad. She didn’t want to make her friend think that she was ditching her, but she didn’t want to have to tell her about her problem. Of course, she wouldn’t tell her she was living with vampires. That would be too risky. Who knows what the boys would do to her for knowing their secret. Also, if she said something like they are very overprotective and wouldn’t let her go unless they tagged along, she would simply have no problem with it. Again, putting her in possible danger.

Yui felt someone grab her hands with a gentleness that put her at ease. “Yui is there something wrong? You look conflicted and very bothered.”

Yui looked up at her dear friend, who has done so much for her and helped her more than she could ever know. Just her presence of a cheerful and sarcastic demeanor could cheer Yui up. For that reason she was going to protect her even if it meant lying to her and angering the boys.

Yui looked directly at Chiyo and met her amber eyes, “The problem is that I have to collect enough money for my dress. I spent all the money I had last time, so it’s going to take me awhile to get more money. I will probably end up last minute shopping and I don’t want to do that to you.”

Chiyo seemed to take it into consideration, but then she brightened up and smiled at Yui. “I have a solution! How about you come with me and I will pay for the dress?”

“Huh? I could never do that to you. You don’t need to buy me anything!”

“You are really stubborn Yui-chan…” Chiyo looked like she was going to say something else, but she quickly took her seat when the teacher walked in.

“Good morning class. Please open your history books to page three hundred twenty four."

School is finally over, Yui thought, I can finally go home and bake that chocolate chip cupcake I’ve been craving. The shiny black limousine, that never had a scratch or speckle of dust on it, was waiting outside the school doors like usual. Yui started to speed walk in the direction of the limousine but was stopped by Chiyo. She looked out of breathe, excited, and proud at the same time.

“I finally caught up to you!” Chiyo practically yelled. “I was going to tell you that you could pay me back for the dress once you get the money. However that annoying excuse of a teacher interrupted.”

“That’s not nice, Chiyo-chan.”

Chiyo ignored Yui’s comment and smiled at her excitedly, “So what do you say?”

“I don’t know…”

“Please! Please!” Chiyo begged with the best puppy dog face she could muster. Fully aware that her dear friend was weak to them.

Yui sighed but gave her friend a small smile. “Fine.”

“Yay! Thank you so much Yui-chan! I knew you would come through!” Chiyo said jumping up and down. “Well I gotta go! See you in two days!”

Yui watched as her friend ran to her older sister’s McClaren and waved back at her before leaving school property.

“What was that all about, chichinashi?”

Yui turned to look at Ayato, whom was grinning at her mischievously, and asked nervously, “Did you hear our conversation, Ayato?”

“Nope, but it’s pretty obvious what it was about. The guilt is written all over your face, chichinashi.”

Yui nervously shifted her bag from one arm to the other. He knows? Is it really that obvious? Hopefully he won’t punish me, Yui thought. Hopefully.

“You were obviously talking about Yours Truly!” Ayato said confidently. Yui giggled, despite the fact that Ayato was a very scary vampire, he can be very cute and childish when he wants to be.

Yui followed Ayato to the limo as he babbled about how handsome he is and how it couldn’t be helped that she was thinking of him. However, Yui wasn’t listening, she was thinking of a way to lie to the brothers and go shopping with Chiyo. It was time for plan B.

Then Yui felt a hand on her thigh, slowly inching to the hem of her skirt. Ayato leaned in and placed his mouth next to her ear. Yui could feel his hot breath on her neck and she couldn’t help but shiver.

“Oi, chichinashi, exactly how lewd were your thoughts about me?”
