Matthew POV
"Mom, I'm home!" I said
"In the kitchen!" she replied
I walked into the kitchen and the smell of the food hits my nose. I went up to her and kissed her cheek but not before steeling a piece of the bacon. She hits my hand away and shooed me away from her territory. I run to my room and throw my bag to the bed and then I saw a letter laying in my table. I picked up and I opened it.
It said :
Dear Mr. Anderson,
We are from the National Service Center of the United States here to inform you that your father Marcus Howard Anderson has served his country with passion and has fought for his country till his last blood. On behalf of the people of the United States we owed your father a lot for his sacrifice to this country. We are really sorry for your lost. Furthermore, hia belongings will be send to his home. We are all sending our deep condolences to your family.
Your Sincerely,
Sergeant Cartwright
I bring the letter with me and run down to the kitchen. I saw my mom looked up at me with a confused expression.
"What happened?" she asked.
"This is what happened" I dropped the letter in front of her.
She read it and I can hear her sniffled a little and I saw tears start to flowing down.
"Mom...." I called.
"No!" she screamed and slumped down to the floor. I walked up to her and hugged her. She sobbed in my chest.
"It can't be him. It can't be your father, Matthew. He can't leave us like this. Not today Matthew!" she cried.
"I'm sorry, mom" I said.
It took her awhile to calmed down and I carried her to the bedroom and lay her down on the bed. I stand there and look at my mother. I know the death of my father really hit her so hard especially knowing that their anniversary is coming up this Sunday. I shook my head and switch off the light.
I looked up the ceiling trying to figure why this thing happened to me. When I couldn't get the answer I groaned and hit the bed next to me. I turn to my bedside and pick up my phone. The light from the phone blind my eyes but I squint my eyes to see the time it says 3:00 in the morning. So, I close my eyes really tight hoping that I can fall asleep.
