I was starting to second guess my brilliant plan, if it was brilliant at all. However, I had come this far now to stop, even if I wanted to leave without arising suspicious it would be impossible to now. The plan had been simple, sneak into the ball as a server; which had been easy enough, and change into my dress. The dress was going to make eyes turn and jaws drop; made from silk it encased my body, leaving nothing to the imagination. The plunging neckline stopped above the navel only adding to the look of sex I was exuding. It was meant to turn people's heads and notice me, hopefully enough people would look and that would gain the interest from the man himself. The one man I wanted to kill above all others the man that help ruin the earth.
I adjusted the vibrant emerald green dress, allowing a tiny more cleavage to show before making my way into the ballroom. My red hair was a striking contrast to the dress and with my pale skin the people of the compound would call me a goddess, and I hated it; but I couldn't deny that I did look different from others in the compound. Shaking my head free from those thoughts I started back onto the mission on hand; I needed to stay focused and not allow my mind to wander. I pushed forward and within seconds of my entrance all eyes had turned and were staring right at me. Though it really felt as they were staring right into me. This was the attention I wanted, it was part of the plan, but when it came down to it... I really did hate the feeling of all their eyes. They all knew that I wasn't one of them, and soon there would be questions. I really needed to get this done soon or my plan would be compromised.
Keeping my head down as I made her way through the crowd I tired to move between the crowds without drawing any unwanted attention. Yes, I wanted attention, but only from the right person, him. However, luck didn't seem to be on my side as I was drawing unwanted attention as each guard I passed seemed noticed me. My heart skipped a beat as I saw them place their hands over their weapon. This wasn't looking good, but leaving now would only draw more attention, I was stuck.
Thinking back on the plan I knew that only one other person knew what I was doing tonight, to ensure that my plan would be safe from the evolved, or so they call themselves. Ugh... I hated that name, it was so stuck up. My friend May, she was the only other person who knew about the plan. May was always smiling, even in her circumstance, she lost a leg during an early attack on the compound; before we got our protection. She didn't mind though, and neither did my brother apparently. I didn't mind, I was happy that they both found one another. I was so lost in the memories of my friend and brother that when a man stepped before me I didn't noticed until it was to late.
"May I have this dance?" The voice caused me to stop abruptly, almost tripping and landing right on the man. "Oh, I'm sorry, didn't mean to startle you."
A middle aged man, an evolved, stood before me extending his hand out, as I was supposed to take it. However, instead of taking his hand I just stared at him, dumbfounded, why on earth was this man asking me to dance, and what was I going to do. For seconds I looked at him, he had thin lips that were pressed into a line of frustration, and his brown eyes held Annika in a trance. His high cheekbones and sharp chin line were covered in a small growth of hair, it matched the salt and pepper hair that was swept back into a low ponytail. I pushed those thoughts out of her head, clenching her fists at my side, not taking his hand. The man noticed my lack of movement and clenched his face, he knew I was up to something.
"I'm sorry, but I'll have to deny the request. I am waiting for someone." I replied, clasping my hands in front, trying to stop the temptation of killing the man.
"Oh, and who would that be, if I may ask? I would like to know who I am up against." The man smiled, a very cocky smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"Well, I'm not quiet sure who that is just yet, we haven't met. That's why I'm here after all." I smiled, pushed my loose red curls behind my ear.
"Is that so? An non-evolved here, at the mating ball? I've never heard of such a thing; you truly must be a special creature." The man took a step closer, almost to close for comfort.
