As I sat on a park bench watching the people rush home this evening, walking around with friends and family. I see all the people smiling and having a good time but I can't shack this feeling that tonight is going to be different.

As I keep trying to figure out what is going to happen tonight that has me on the edge of my seat. I lean back on the bench and look up at the sky and watch the birds fly by and think some more about this unnerving feeling that in someway tonight is going to be about me. As I close my eyes to take in the warm breeze of the evening air, this feeling of uneasiness began to sink in deeper and become a lot stronger. When I opened my eyes it was dark. I figured I might as well get home before it gets too much later.

That is when I noticed that the moon was a different color. The full moon was blood red. As soon as I saw the moon I noticed a lot of other people around the town looking at the moon too saying that the moon has been cursed. Then I heard one of the elders of the town say, "Its not the moon that is cursed it is the curse that the moon is going to release upon us all until they get what they came here for."

I ran over to the town elder and asked what did he mean. He told me that they are looking for the one who knows the moon and is connected to the moon. I looked at him with a shock look on my face. When I regain myself I asked who were they and who they were looking for.

The elder said, "That they are demons, monsters of the worst kind and they are looking for you because you are the only one who can release the world of this curse. They are also the people of this town. It has been over 1,000 years since the last Blood Moon."

I backed away and said I couldn't do that. I am not connected to the moon. There is nothing special about me. I am made fun of because my hair is a different color. There is nothing special about me." You could hear the fear in my voice and my disbelief as well. I turned and ran until I got away from everyone.

"I am not special." I kept repeating this to myself as I came to a complete stop by a lake in the middle of the park. I went and sat on the lush green grass by the lake and looked at the reflection of the moon in the water. I repeated once again I am not special and pulled my knees up to my chest and placed my arms on my knees and laid my head on my arms.

"Ah, but you are very special my dear. You are marked by the moon, my dear." A voice said.

I looked up and I saw someone that looked so familiar but I know for sure I didn't know who that person was. She was dressed in all white and had a soft voice. I asked her, "I am not marked by the moon and who are you?"

She said, "I am Melee and you are marked by the color of your hair. Your hair is snow white and in the light of a normal full moon your hair looks silver."

"How...how did you know that?"

"I should know since I am the person who was marked by the moon nearly 2,000 years ago. I am here to tell you not to be afraid you will be safe and you need to accept your fate."

" I can't I know what is going to happen and I can't accept that. I refuse to accept the curse of the blood moon. I don't care if it will make these people suffer more but I can not do it."

" You must. Its not just these people who are at risk, it's everyone including yourself. You will loose everything and everyone. The moon will release the Blood curse and turn everyone in to demons on this planet until the next blood moon."

" Fine but I am only doing this because I don't want anyone to loose their life and change because of me."

As I stood up and turned to walk away from the lake I turned to look back and realize that Melee was never real and that I just put my life on the line for the people who wanted to have me disappear all of my life.
