That night, while we were eating dinner, I thought about what people would think of us now when we got back to land. I have a feeling Ryoma still isn’t going to go back home, and Kyo was going to try to find another new home. My plans were to go back home, and continue my old life, minus the family. It would feel weird, but if someone found out, they might send me to an orphanage, and that was not going to happen to me.

Once we finished our food, we went to bed. I was still thinking about what life was going to be like at home. Wait, if I get sent to an orphanage and they find out about my tail and ears, then they might just sell me to the circus or some kind of freak show. Well, it might actually be easier to escape a circus instead of an orphanage. Why am I worrying about this right now? I still have a while before I get back, so when I reach that bridge, then I’ll cross it. I finally fell asleep, looking at the mural of the stars.

The next day, Kyo and I went hunting. It was a lot easier now that we both had claws, so we didn’t need to bring the weapons anymore, though Ryoma would have to. We found a big cat, killed it, and then I told Kyo I was going to go get some fish. He said okay and I left. Instead of using the fishing pole, I decided to try and swim in the stream and claw the fish. Plus, I might be able to taste a little bit of blood. Since I was part wolf now, I had a craving for blood. I thought I was a wolf, not a vampire. Actually… to be honest, I kind of wanted that taste even when I didn’t have the wolf instincts.

I was able to get a couple fish, and then headed back to the shelter. On the way back to the shelter, I grabbed a couple roots, so we would now have plenty to eat.

When I got back, the guys had already started on the meat, and then I gave them the fish and roots. When I saw the bones of the cat, it looked kind of... yummy.

“We-we’re done with the bones, right? I asked, not wanting to sound weird.

“Yeah, what would we use them for?”

“This.”

I ran over to the bones, and started mauling one of the ribs. The guys just seemed to be staring, and Kyo looked like he was going to laugh. Before I realized it, my tail and ears had come out. I guess I felt like a dog, so the tail and ears had to come out.

I finished with the bones, and then we began to eat. The guys seemed to want to have all the fish, but when it came down to the last one, they were glaring at each other. While they had their staring contest, I just grabbed the last fish and ate it. They seemed to look pretty pissed, and to add to that, I pretty much ate all the meat. There were only a couple chunks left for them.

“Really… has the princess become a pig instead of a wolf?”

“Oh be quiet, the instinct of a wolf is to eat any meat that’s good. And besides, I left you guys some food.”

“You only left us the roots and a little bit of meat.”

“Bon appetite!”

The guys seemed to be pissed at me, but then they lightened up after they ate. I’m just glad I got a lot of roots, and that they were an even number. Once they finished their food, we all went to bed. I figured out how to only let one of my cool features out, so when I fell asleep I would be able to let my tail out. It was soft and warm, like a pillow.
