"Allison Garth," The teacher called out. It the first day of my junior year at Thomas Jefferson High School.
"I go by Ali," I stutter a tiny bit.
As the teacher nods and continues on to the next student, I start to zone out. My best friend, Heather, snaps her fingers in front of my face.
"You better stop daydreaming about Josh. You were starting to drool," she teases and I blush and wipe my mouth.
"Shhh," I whisper. "We must hear the all-important rules of English class!"
We both giggle and begin texting each other under the table. Both of our smiles widen as we text back and fourth. Once again, my year starts out perfectly normal. I'm not even expecting it to fall apart.
