I waited for my boyfriend Draco to finish taking his shower. I laid back on his bed and basked in the dark green, velvety fabric. This bed was truly meant for a king.
I scrolled through Twitter and saw a few tweets from Harry Potter. My boyfriend despised him, but he was alright. We had chatted a few times in Defense Against the Dark Arts class and he seemed like a really nice guy. His friends are alright too, although I do get kind of creeped out when Ron Weasley stares at me during lessons.
I ran my fingers through my long dark hair and sighed. "They will never get along." I thought to myself.
I heard the shower stop in Draco's private bathroom. Sloshy footsteps sounded on the floor before the door flung open. In the doorway I saw my boyfriend dripping wet and in nothing but a towel. Damn was he sexy.
"Hello darling." he proclaims, walking over to his dresser and letting the towel drop to the floor.
"Hi babe." I reply, sliding off of the bed and walking towards him. He turned to me and planted a kiss on my lips before slipping into a pair of red boxer briefs.
"I hope you weren't waiting too long." he says, pulling out a grey T-shirt with the Hogwarts crest on it.
"Oh no. I kept myself occupied with my phone." I say, hugging him from behind.
"Okay." he replies, kissing my forehead. we heard a proud knock on the door and knew instantly that it was Lucious, his father. "Enter."
The door creaked open to reveal a tall, slender man with long, whitish blonde hair, similar to Draco's.
"Draco." he states, looking at him with his usual smirk before turning on me. "Lilith."
I felt myself tense up. I wanted so badly for the Malfoy family to like me.
"It's family time. Don't you think you should be downstairs with the others?" he says, giving us a devilish grin. Mr Malfoy chuckled, indicating that he was just fooling around. I took a breath of relief.
"We'll be down in a few minutes, father." Draco says, before his father exits the room. He slips into a pair of green and white basketball shorts before heading towards the door. I followed. We wandered down the hall and down the main staircase to the family room. Trinity and Sean, his younger siblings, were sprawled out on the floor watching Amby and Dexter on the telly. His uncle and his father were playing chess, and his aunt, mother, and grandmother sipped tea and chatted. His cousin Callum, that was a year under us, sat with his head under the Christmas tree.
We sat on the loveseat and Draco hugged one of the throw pillows, looking quite bored. His grandmother offered us some sweets.
"Would you like a biscuit, my dear?" she asked in her humble old voice.
"No thank you." I replied, staring into the fireplace and watching the fire lick the logs. She returned to her spot on the couch and gave us a friendly smile before returning to the conversation that Draco's aunt and mother were having.
"How about lettin' the kin open up some gifts? It's Christmas eve, after all!" Draco's grandfather croaks from his chair by the fire. I hadn't even noticed he was in the room.
"What a splendid idea." his grandmother says, motioning towards the tree. "Callum, why don't you be Santa, and pass out some presents?"
Callum grumbled before picking up one of the packages that were right next to his head. It was a large parcel with beautiful red wrapping paper and a big silver ribbon on it.
"This is for Trin, from Granny and Pappy." he announces, placing the present in front of Trin. Her eyes widened greedily. She tore the paper off in record timeing, and her eyes widened at what was inside. It looked like a handmade rocking horse with a beautiful mahogany finish. Mrs. Malfoy helped her climb onto the sadle and rocked her back and forth. She giggled happily.
"What do you say, Trinity?" Mrs. Malfoy asks her, putting her hand on her hip.
"Thank you grama and grampa!" she squeaks, looking like she was having the time of her life on that rocking horse. Callum fished another present from under the tree. This one had velvety green wrapping paper and a gold bow on it. It was a long and slender package, and I had a feeling I knew what was inside.
"This one is for Draco, from Mum and Dad." he announced, pointing his wand at the package and making it float over to Draco. He carfully ripped the paper and behind it was exactly what I had thought--the latest and greatest broomstick. His eyes beamed at it, and a broad smile spread across his features. The handle was made of a smoothed out dragon bone and on the end of it, his name was carved into it in elegant gold script. The wiring was black and it accented the dragon bone's color amazingly.
"Thanks mum, thanks dad." he says, standing up to give them both hugs. Sean sat on the floor, almost in tears because he hadden't gotten a gift yet.
"You're welcome sweetie." His mum says and his father nods. Lucious had a weird way of showing he cared. Callum pulled out two more gifts, one with pretty silver wrapping, and another with red wrapping.
"This one is for Sean, from Gran and Gramp, and this one is for me, from Auntie and Uncle." he reads, giving the ever waiting Sean his present. Callum let's Sean open his present first, since he is the youngest.
"Whoa!" he said, as he tore off the red paper. A green plastic plane sat in his lap. The plastic glinted in the light of the fire. He picked up the plane and threw it, and it sailed gracefully around the room. Sean clapped his little hands together and let out a string of gibberish. He wasn't really up to par with talking yet. Mrs. Malfoy thanked her parents for him.
At this time everyone was now staring at Callum and watching him open his present. He tore off the silver wrapping and unmasked a beautiful crystal ball. Purplish smoke was gliding around on the inside. He thanks his Aunt and Uncle Malfoy. He settles himself back under the tree and continues looking up at the lights.
"There should be one at the back for Lily.." Draco speaks up quietly. Callum fished a purple box with a black ribbon on it out from behind the tree. I was utterly shocked.
He got me a present?
My heart was beating so hard and fast in my chest as I felt everyone's eyes on me. The purple paper that this box was wrapped in was absolutely gorgeous and the gothic bow that adorned the box was so elegant and lavish. The wrapping alone on the box looked expensive, so I could only assume whatever was in it was also going to be expensive. I have never received an expensive gift from anyone before and it had me nervous as to what it could be. Knowing Draco, it was going to be something absolutely extra and over the top.
I glanced around the room and everyone was looking at me, with smiles on their faces and love in their eyes. It made me feel really good that it seemed like the Malfoy's were finally warming up to me. Draco and I came from very different families, and I felt like Lucius was looking down on me with the harshest judgement most of the time. Right now he had the warmest smile on his face, as he looked at me and his son in admiration.
