jennie spends her day making a mug from scratch because lisa loves drinking her hot chocolate at night. she ends up breaking it accidentally on her way back home before it even reaches lisa who in turn was mastering to cook for jennie.
—here's the thing, she wouldn't be here if her girlfriend didn't like drinking hot chocolate so much before they go to bed, but alas— of course lisa likes it exactly that way.
they have enough mugs at home of course, it wasn't that lisa needed another one but she wanted this one to be her favorite.
"your mug looks like a lopsided lucy." chahee remarks at her best friend, and laughs. they should've been painting the mugs by now if it weren't for jennie who apparently sucked at sculpting things.
jennie glares at the other, "say one more word and you'll look like a lopsided lucy." chahee mocks her childishly while taking pictures of the cup she's finished a little bit over an hour ago.
of course jennie was growing frustrated on the clay which by the way— is already overworked from re-shaping it every time she thought she was close to finishing.
finally, after hours and hours of this she made it. and had it baked.
"you need to wait for it to age though but you can take it home." says the man who guided them through the process. perhaps it was a relief, but waiting for it to age, not that she'd be the one to use it, jennie had no patience.
right away after the activity, she and chahee separated ways. she couldn't wait to show lisa what she spent her whole day doing, it was finally dinner time.
once she got off the train, how lucky she must be as the rain started falling without her umbrella and just the mug inside a paper bag in her hand.
"they should've broadcasted this at least." she complains silently while running (though she didn't watch the news yesterday), hugging the paper bag under her coat.
she was a block and a street away when she ran into someone else strong enough to smash the mug in between them.
"FUCK!" she cusses, and looks up to the person whom she ran into "you fucking idiot!" she shouts, but the stranger could care less as they were on the way where else.
jennie looks down on the shattered pieces on the ground, she's pissed but she felt more like crying at this point. all her effort brushed off to waste.
she releases a shaky sigh, before carefully picking the pieces up. the thought would count right? she still wanted lisa to see it even at this state.
when she reached their apartment, realizing that she also forgot to bring her keys— she rings their door bell.
in seconds the door was opened and there was her girlfriend with her hair tied in a messy bun, and a messy white top, and sweatpants, and in a dirty apron? jennie's gloomy emotions were put at halt and was instantly exchanged with confusion.
"why do you look like that?" she raises a brow at lisa.
the blonde laughs in a pretentious manner, "uH- I, well— why do YOU look like THAT?" she counters her girlfriend's question with the same thing, squinting her eyes and blocking the doorway.
"excuse me?"
"i mean, you're soaked— oh, it's raining." lisa realizes, looking up at the sky which means it's still raining and her girlfriend is still getting soaked under the rain.
"oh my god baby come in!!" she lightly panics, dragging jennie inside with her and was both greeted with a smell of something burning.
"the macarons!" lisa lets go of her hand, instantly running towards their kitchen with those long legs of hers.
amused, jennie follows her girlfriend to the kitchen. and there is the revelation, the key to her confusion.
to say that the kitchen is a mess would be a great understatement. there was flour on the floor, even more on the counter. their mixer was still on despite it being empty, and there's her girlfriend, with only one mitten carefully trying to get the pan out of the oven. she couldn't help but laugh.
"babe what are you doing?! my kitchen is a mess!!" lisa ignores her quick attempt to banter, which made sense now that they both look at the macarons on the pan, they're all burnt.
"well at least they're still in my favorite color?" jennie light-heartedly laughs, as she puts her head on her girlfriend's shoulder, trying to comfort her with an embrace, she buries her face on lisa's neck.
"they were supposed to be pink." lisa sighs, this should've been the highlight of their dinner. well at least she wouldn't have to say the same for the main course, luckily she nailed the salmon.
jennie softly kisses her neck. "that's alright, see, let me taste it." she pulls back from the embrace facing the baking sheet and picking one up, she bites into it.
"yum." she says, but with that facial expression of hers, neither of them would be convinced.
lisa laughs and lightly sobs at the same time if that was even possible, she embraces the brunette.
"i'm still going to try this some other time, i'm not giving up." she whispers to her girlfriend.
"just don't burn our place down babe."
in between the hugs and kisses, jennie remembers what took her so long outside. she picks up her coat, and takes out the pieces of the yellow mug she was supposed to gift the taller girl.
"if it makes you feel any better you aren't the only one who messed up today." she giggles, showing her girlfriend what she brought her.
"those are really sharp for pebbles, where'd you pick them up?" lisa laughs along with her, receiving a few playful slaps on her arm.
"i was making this thing with chahee the whole day and all it took was an idiot and a stupid girlfriend for it to look this way so you're welcome, lisa." jennie states sarcastically.
"i could pretend to have a tea party with the pets with this—" she picks up the handle, "oh i'm sorry, i meant THESE." she points at the different pieces, and they laughed the night away.
they continued on with clowning themselves during dinner, for messing up things that adults should've probably mastered at their age. but they loved it, they loved each other more for it.
and by the moment it was past bedtime, they had those unburnt but half-cooked macarons and hot chocolate they shared in a mug fixed with superglue as their midnight snack.
once they cleaned up everything—
"last one who makes it to the bedroom has to wash the dishes tomorrow!" lisa challenged, but jennie was fast on her foot climbing up the stairs. and like the luck that she had the whole day, she sprains her ankle halfway.
"shit!" she mutters, losing balance. surely enough lisa who was behind her caught her just in time, she lifts and carries her up the stairs. she laughs at her again.
"i'm washing the dishes tomorrow but you have to make it up to me tonight." jennie lightly slaps her shoulder.
"of course you've always been a pillow princess." the younger girl remarks followed by a series of shy giggles from jennie.
maybe they wouldn't mind messing up the sheets tonight.
