Chapter 24: Dates and Heart to Heart Talks

Vanessa's P.O.V

You know that moment when you think someone is really stupid and that they couldn’t be more stupid than they already are but somehow they go ahead and prove you wrong and do something that is not even considered stupid it's considered absolutely psychotic.

Yeah I was having that moment right now.

So remember how Lucy and I heard that scream and we ran down to see something that terrified us. Guess what it was?

A shirtless Zach standing in front of the stove. Now, obviously that wasn’t the terrifying part. The terrifying part was the burning hot fire that was spreading quite quickly. And the stupid part was Zach waving his shirt rapidly in an attempt to calm the flames.

Lucy was quick to pull Zach away when she saw his shirt also catch the fire. Zach threw the shirt in the fire like the idiot he is and the flames grew even bigger.

"I ASKED YOU TO CHECK THE CHICKEN NOT BURN THE WHOLE KITCHEN DOWN" Lucy yelled at Zach who was avoiding her glare. The smoke got in my lungs and I started coughing like crazy. And as if like a superhero Luke came running in the kitchen he pulled me away helping me lean against the farthest wall opposite from the kitchen. Luke jumped on the counter and fiddled with the fire alarm, soon there was water spraying and the fire had started to extinguish.

Even in a situation like this I couldn’t help but check Luke out he looked extremely attractive wearing a button down purple shirt with black slacks, a tie and a waist coat. His tie was hanging around his neck not tied. And the fact that he was dripping wet only made him look even hotter.

Looking around the kitchen nothing seemed that bad except for the food which was completely burnt.

"Zach, what did you do?" Lucy finally spoke.

"Nothing I swear" I don’t know why but I found the situation quite amusing and I couldn’t help but chuckle. Probably not my best move since Lucy glared at me and Luke looked completely distraught. He looked like a little wet puppy, a really adorable little wet puppy.

"I'm so sorr-" Zach stopped talking when Luke glared at him.

"Okay, enough stop looking at him like that he's already really guilty. Just look at him, poor baby" I said going up to Zach to rub his back.

"I'm really sorry guys" He said once again and I smiled. But Luke and Lucy didn’t.

"It's not that big of a deal c'mon chill" I frowned when Luke stormed away. "What's up with him?"

"He wanted everything to be perfect for both of your date" Lucy said with a sad expression and hearing her words my mood also dampened. He was doing all of this for us.

Lucy grabbed my hand and took me to the backyard. My breath caught in my throat at the sight. The whole backyard was lit with little light bulbs hanging all around. There was a carpet leading from the doorway to the middle of the backyard where there was a table with two chairs and a canopy thing covering it. That wasn’t all; there was this big projector screen with a couch in front of it. How he managed to do all that, I have absolutely no idea! All I know is, it was absolutely beautiful.

"He did all of this himself" Lucy said with a sad smile.

"Actually, Lucy helped me a lot" I heard Luke say. I turned around to see him leaning against the stairs.

"This is absolutely beautiful" I finally voiced my thoughts and he smiled but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.

"Too bad it's no use now" he said with a sigh and I frowned. Was he seriously cancelling our date because the food got burnt?! I grabbed Luke's hand and started walking towards the couch.
