Chapter 18

Lucy ran to the guild as fast as she could. She wanted the night to be over as soon as possible. She knew running wouldn't help, but it might feel like it. When she got to the guild, she saw something that surprised her. Every single girl in the guild was there, and no boys.

"We decided to throw a slumber party! I think we all need a break. And slumber parties are fun." Wendy said, somewhat awkwardly. Just then, Freed showed up, with a suit and tie, holding a tray with cakes. Mira was following him.

"He really wanted to come." Mira said apologetically. "He says he'll work so we can have a night off."

"That sounds great!" Lucy said. "This is going to be so much fun!" The girls all laid out sleeping bags in one corner, and made a blanket nest thing in another. It was kind of like a fort. The girls sat in the nest, talking about boy troubles, with Freed bringing them cake and other snacks like that.

"So, Mira, how is Laxus? And Gajeel, Levy?" Lucy asked. She wanted to make sure that they were okay.

"Laxus is...okay" Mira hesitated.

"What's wrong? Why do I smell embarrassment?" Wendy said. The girls squealed.

"Um...uh...well..." Mira stuttered.

"SPIT IT OUT!"

"He... He told me that he likes me..." Everyone screamed. Freed came running in, to see if everyone was okay.

"Freed! Why didn't you tell us that Laxus liked Mira!" Erza yelled.

"Laxus-San didn't want me too!" Freed said defensively.

"How long has he liked her?" Levy yelled.

"Um..." Freed hesitated. "At least since the Fantasia fiasco. Maybe a little longer." The girls screamed again.

The girls and Freed kept gossiping, finding out that Jellal is staying with Erza, Natsu is sick, Romeo gave Wendy a necklace, Evergreen and Elfman have been secretly dating since the S-class tests, Gajeel is MIA, Cana and Bacchus started dating, and many other things.

At about 2AM, Erza decided that they had to go to bed. Everyone was exhausted, so they did it. At 3 AM, when everyone but a few people were asleep, Levy heard Wendy get up and walk over to Mira and tap her. Then she went over to Lucy to wake her up, and Mira walked over to Levy.

When the four of them were all awake, Wendy silently led them to the library. Once they got there, she started talking.

"Sorry to wake you up, but I have to tell you about mating season. It could be dangerous for you." The small dragonslayer said "The reason that you couldn't stay with Natsu tonight is that anything within a 10 foot radius of him that has a pulse will burn to ashes. Actually, that's the case for all of you, not just if they're sick. That's why I had a slumber party. So I could get you away from them. Gajeel is probably hiding, not wanting to hurt you. If they bite you, you are their masters. You can control them. Another thing is that they know who their mates are right when they see them. Sometimes it's not very clear, but they are drawn to them as if they are a magnet. During mating season, they also have much better senses. And they are more powerful. So...don't mess with them. Any questions?"

"How long is this?" "About a month"

"When can we go near them?" "Let the, come to you. They'll know."

Once all of the questions were answered, the girls went back to bed.
