Okay so I know the whole vampire thing is kinda old but I wrote this and entered it in a writing contest and won 3rd place. So depending on how you guys react will depend on whether or not I continue to express and publish little pieces of my brain. Please feel free to criticise. Fair warning: this will be disturbing to some people. If you don't like blood baths... I suggest you stop reading here. Thanks :)

Centries ago the first vampire was created. There was once a beautiful woman who wanted to keep her good looks forever as well as her youth. Her name was Akantha. Akantha dug up a bunch of old witch books and locked herself away in her chambers reading them and searching through them until, finally, after months of research, she found a recipe for eternal youth. To complete the process she had to bathe herself in a concoction of infant blood and other herbs and spices, then drink the blood of a stillborn infant.

She knew it was wrong but was obsessed enough with her beauty and youth that she had decided to do it. She was aware of every birth throughout her town. Finding a stillborn is extremely rare. One day, after years of waiting, she finally found a stillborn. The woman waited until the dead of night to kidnap seven sleeping infants. Silently, she crept into the homes of newborn and took them one by one into a cave deep in the forest by the town. Akantha had spent years getting the cave ready for this day.

After collecting the infants, she tied them together and left to go find the stillborn. The woman went back to the cave, stillborn in hand, and drained the living infants of their blood and mixed it with other special herbs, using a medium sized wooden tub to mix it all together. She then made several lacerations on the stillborn and filled a challice with its blood. She chanted the spell that she had practiced for oh, so many years and spoke the ancient words she knew by heart.

Stepping into the tub, unclothed and challice in hand, she continued to speak the familiar words and lowered herself into the crimson pool. The woman bathed herself and as the chant ended she slowly raised the challice up to her lips, spoke the final words and drank deeply. Out of nowhere, a strong magic appeared around the woman. Her canine teeth elongated and she was overcome by the unbearable urge to quench the thirst for blood. Thus, the first vampire had been created.

Akantha learned to control her new body and how to take care of herself over the course of about ten years. She found that the magic had made her even more beautiful. She used seduction to lure men into her bed chambers and fed from each of them, though at the beginning some problems were caused.

When she first started seducing men, she sometimes left bruises on them, and sometimes broke some bones, not realising her strength. At first, she couldnt control the bloodlust and drained a few men completely. Of course, she never meant to kill them. The villagers reported the men missing and slowly they began to point fingers at her so she went into hiding. She lured travelers that passed in the forest over to her and made them create a house for her. She lived in the woods for about two years before she really started to get lonely. Akantha decided to experiment.

She used men, women, and children and attempted different ways at changing them. Eventually, she figured out that by exchanging blood she could change anybody. Afraid that the man, woman, and child she turned would rebel against her, she killed them all and left to look for a lover. She traveled from village to village until she found the perfect man that adored her like no other.

One night she snuck into his bedroom and bit him in his sleep and forced her blood down his throat. At first, he freaked out and tried to run, then he realised who it was and he gave in. She knocked him out and carried him out of the village on stolen horseback. Days later, they arrived at her home and the man had completed the change. The woman taught him everything she knew about being a vampire and for years they hunted together. They became passionate hunters and lovers and made love. The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. This process continued and a population of vampires were born.

Little known fact: Akantha means "thorn"

Hope you enjoyed this dark slice of my mind. I know it's not much but I am a novice. :)
