It's another collaboration with @sparkle123tt !!! This time, we started writing a one-off for a backseat oc I have for RWBY! Ella has her own backstory, but I won't get into that here. Please let me know if you'd like to see more stories with her in it! Just keep in mind that they will be strictly set in the RWBY universe (sorry!)!
Ella had known Qrow for a very long time now. The two had shared many close moments with each other, the messy-haired drunk even getting the pacifist to learn a few combat moves and how to hold a sword. Their similar pasts with family had drawn them closer together, causing them to think of each other as siblings.
"I'm glad to have you as a sister," Qrow exclaimed, his mouth stretched into a large smile as he rubbed Ella's shoulder, glaring daggers at Raven from where she sits in the corner on the other side of the room.
Raven glared back, her drink being placed back on the table just sly of a slam.
"She's not even a huntress... if there was even a battle she'd only hinder you."
Qrow pulled Ella into a warm embrace, gently pushing her face into his shoulder so she couldn't see the drunk flip the other woman off with both his middle fingers.
Raven grit her teeth, her eyes glaring red in anger. She calmed herself down though. She wasn't a teenager anymore. She was a leader, more mature than her bother was.
"That was juvenile... some sibling you are," Raven told her brother.
"Exactly," Qrow retorted, raising his voice as he continued to shelter the younger girl. "I am quite the older sibling!"
Ella rolled her eyes in amusement, chuckling slightly as she playfully shoved the drunken man off her.
Raven rolled her eyes. "You'll let her down soon enough. Just like you did me."
"Raven, please be nice," Ella requested, her voice smooth as glass, semblance working in the syrupy sweetness, coaxing the older woman to do her bidding.
Raven said nothing else, pouring herself another drink.
"I don't think it worked," Qrow mumbled into Ella's ear. "Try getting her to do something else."
"If you think someone's barley utilized semblance is going to work on me, you're wrong," Raven glared at her brother once more. "She doesn't have the desire nor the strength."
"Make her use her semblance to teleport back to Tai," Qrow pleaded.
Ella turned to face him, cocking an eyebrow as she stared into his red eyes, which were gleaming with some sort of childlike mischief. "Really?"
Raven glared, her voice threatening. He hand went to rest on her sword hilt. "If she tries, she won't survive it."
"Make sure she can't leave until she tells Tai she loves him," Qrow choked out through fits of giggles.
"Final warning. If she values her life, she won't do this." Raven's grip tightened. "And don't think you can save her. The only person you ever save is yourself."
"Ella, if you truly care about me, you will do this," Qrow egged the younger girl on, hand wandering back to his own weapon in case it suddenly got ugly.
"You must not value the life of your so-called 'sister' very much," Raven stood up. Though her pose seemed enough, she was ready to fight the second this girl opened her mouth.
"Now, now, Branwens," Ella held up both her hands in a defensive motion. "I would never do something so childish. My father would be very disappointed in me if all my training with my semblance led to such a petty act."
Raven smirked lightly. "It seems you're smarter than you look."
A smirk suddenly crept its way across Ella's face. "Besides," she continued slyly, "I'm pretty sure Raven wants to tell Yang how much she really cares about her."
The smirk dissipated off Raven's smug face, replaced by a look of complete shock that perfectly complemented the newfound fear in her eyes. "Leave my daughter out of this," Raven glared, mentally taking back her compliment.
"Stop talking to my brother like this," Ella retorted, slinging an arm around Qrow's shoulders with an even slyer smirk.
"Yeah, what she said," Qrow agreed, giving Ella a fist bump.
"He's not you brother," Raven snapped, the girl's semblance affecting her. "He's mine."
Her eyes widened. What had she just said?
Raven grit her teeth as her eyes settled on her brother. Damn this girl, damn her to hell.
"Qrow... I... I..." Raven tried her best to fight the semblance. They hadn't said 'I love you' in years, she couldn't remember the last time the words had left her lips. Raven closed her eyes and pulled out her sword. "I love you." With that she leapt, her sword drawn poised to attack.
Qrow slammed his head onto the table of the bar, his entire body shaking as peals of laughter erupted from deep inside him. Raven lunged at her brother, his semblance quickly causing her to stumble over and knock herself in the side with the butt of her sword. Her blade stuck halfway into the wooden floorboards and nearly broke in two.
Raven quickly yanked it out, taking care not to damage it. She was used to the hectic situations her brother always caused. She went to attack Qrow's so-called 'other sister' again, with a fury. One that her brother's semblance couldn't possibly evade. She was moving too fast for the girl to say a word.
Qrow spun around, drawing out his own sword in record time, blocking his sister's attack. He pushed her back, making her stumble, but she righted herself.
"Thought you loved me?" Qrow teased, waggling his eyebrows at his real sister.
Raven swung her sword in reply. Qrow leaned back, Raven's sword tip almost piercing his neck. Instead, his precious necklace went clattering to the floor as the string snapped. Qrow froze, eyeing his sister with an unreadable expression. "You wanna fight, sis? Let's fight. Ella, stay back. This is gonna get messy." Qrow told her. Ella immediately jumped behind the bar counter. She peeped up over the side, grabbing a fistful of maraschino cherries and popping them into her mouth one by one.
Raven tucked and rolled to the side just in time to dodge a swift punch issued by the unlucky man. She swiftly scooped up the man's precious necklace and dangled it in front of his face teasingly. "What's the matter, little brother? Too scared to hit a girl?"
Qrow issued another punch in Raven's direction, narrowly missing her head as her pulled out his own prized Harbinger. He gripped the handle tightly with his fists, his eyes burning with pure hatred for the woman in front of him. "I'll kill you for that," he growled.
"Finally, some words out of your mouth that actually make sense," Raven commented, their swords colliding, the two engaging in a masterful dance that only Huntsmen could perform. Qrow used his semblance, floorboards springing upwards, glasses falling in their path, which constantly tripped Raven up. Gritting her teeth, Raven used her semblance, slashing open a portal and disappearing into it.
Qrow froze. Where had she gone? Raven reappeared, a portal opening behind him. Qrow didn't have time to move so he did the next best thing: he transformed. Raven growled and transformed as well, the two black-colored birds chasing each other around in the air. The raven's claws dug into the crow's chest as the crow slashed at her head. Ella covered her own head with her forearms, a fruitless effort to shield herself from the birds' talons. The two crash-landed onto the floor, turning back into their normal selves, the two now bleeding.
"Ow," Qrow told her, his hand on his chest. "Truce?"
"For now," Raven replied, holding her hand out.
"Raven?" Qrow asked as all had gone quiet, Ella going running off to get some bandages for the two.
"What?" Raven demanded.
"I love you, too," Qrow told her, grabbing two beers that had fallen onto the floor in his scuffle. He scampered off, snickering behind his hand as he went to go find his newly-adopted little sister.
