Okay, so this is my first story ever, so please, tell me if I make a mistake. I own Maylinn, Jame, Evan, and Kaillen.
This chapter is a backstory. Thank you.
Many millennia ago, Hecate the Goddess of Magic's favorite daughter, Maylinn, died. After Maylinn's death, Hecate kept to herself, and got depressed. Everyone in Greece knew, and desperately tried to cheer her up. All failed. Except for three young, teenage demigods, a son of Hades named Evan Kingsley, and daughter of Hephaestus named Jame Elle, and a daughter of Aphrodite named Kaillen June. The three of them visited the Underworld and retrieved Maylinn. Hecate couldn't have been happier. She blessed Evan, Jame, and Kaillen magical powers- the first witches and wizards ever.
But Hecate never told them what to do with their new power. She simply gave it to them. She wanted to test them, test if they took their power for granted, test if they use power to their advantage and show off, or use just use magic in situations that you can't do without magic.
Jame didn't use her new magic. She had fire, and she liked that. But, of course, if she really needed to, she could use it, sure. Kaillen had Jame build a little hut that no one could access except for Kaillen. Kaillen could practice magic there, without anyone seeing her. She didn't like the idea of paparazzi's following her around, and didn't want to be famous.
The three bonded even closer, and even named themselves Hecate's Trio. But Evan, Evan didn't keep private. He showed off, took his power for granted, bullied people, and never dared tell the rest of the trio. Kaillen found out, and told Jame. Jame couldn't believe it. Her best friend...
July 31, 1980
A descendant of Evan Kingsley named Tom Marvolo Riddle killed Lily and James Potter. The gods watched, speechless. Every god and goddess slowly turned to Hecate. Hecate flinched.
"Hecate..." Zeus whispered, shaking angrily. Out of nowhere, he barked, "HECATE!!! YOU DARE TEACH MERE MORTALS THE DARK MAGIC!!??!!" Hecate gulped as lightning striked down at Earth. "I... I told them... Told them..." Hecate whispered. It's hard to speak directly at Zeus without him draining you confidence, Hecate noted. "You told them WHAT???" Zeus roared. Hecate swallowed down guilt, and muttered, "...told them... dark arts... is..."
"HECATE???"
"told them dark magic..." Hecate found her confidence. Some of it, at least. "I told them dark arts are forbidden unless used against evil." She straightened her back. She was now speaking strongly. Zeus almost wanted to forgive her, then looked down at Earth. "NOW?? Now he's killing the BABY!!!"Zeus looked at Poseidon. Poseidon frowned. "Well... Hecate cannot control wizards, but Hecate, why kill? Why on Olympus is there a KILLING spell? I mean, Goddess of Magic, why is there a killing charm? Is immortality not enough for you?" the gods nodded. Usually gods nodded at Poseidon because they were afraid of angering 'Earthshaker'. But this time, they all looked like they meant it. "I was mad at the man who killed my girl. But it was no more than a mere spell, I was foolish. That was the day Maylinn died. I was not in my right mind."
"Correct." Hades muttered, but everyone could hear. Hecate's heart lifted. Hades continued, "I agree, you were not in your right mind." Really, Hades? He kept talking, "But a goddess, in the wrong mind? All gods must be sane, or foolish things will happen. But here's one ungodly thing: Your hero-son Alder died, and you were fine. Maylinn died, all of a sudden you are depressed. And a goddess depressed?" Everyone agreed. "Favorite-pickers," someone mumbled. "Pfft! A depressed goddess?" Hecate looked at her feet. Her feet were way better than gods debating how Hecate reacted to Maylinn's death. "It is history, brother. We may not change it." Poseidon continued. "History has passed. There is nothing we can so about it. OH MY-" Poseidon was in shock. "What? What?!?" Zeus asked. Poseidon pointed at Earth and whispered, "The boy survived."
