It was the smell that began to drive me crazy. The scent of disinfectants and antiseptics filled the air and I remember wondering why it was so strong. I'd been to hospitals in the past, but the strength of this odour was utterly overpowering.
Then it hit me. Everything that had happened in the last few days. The monsters, they came for me. The war, between worlds humans were to ignorant to realise even existed. They needed allies, power. There was no where for them to turn other than to us, the last humans. I guess, to them, we're disposable objects, pawns on a great game of chess.
I sat up and looked around, there were what appeared to be nurses, and maybe they were once. Now, however, they are creatures of darkness, Vampires.
I noticed one of them walking towards me. He, however, wasn't dressed in the blue clothes of the nurses, but in black trousers, a smooth blue top covered by a leather jacket.
"Marcus, I am Virgil Ramos. I am to be your roommate, until you get bored of me, that is." He said in a joking manner. "Have you asked the nurses when you can leave?"
Another man suddenly appeared. "Well, considering he just woke up, that would be now, though I suggest you get him some blood before he kills us all" he turns to face me "do you speak boy?"
I stutter in reply "y-yes! Uhm, where am I?" He sighs, "I don't have time for this, Virgil, take him home and fill him in."
Virgil, who had been standing there watching, shook the amused look of his face and just nodded,
"cmon kid, I'll show you around."
