A/N: YEah so welcome y'all. This is kind of a scenario where they kiss for the first time - but this is not what happens in the book itself. Hope u enjoy :). It's also written from Rowan POV but not really 'I'.
----------------------------------------
Fidgeting nervously, Rowan sat by the edge of his bed, waiting for a 'buzz' from his phone - a text notification. The sunset filled his room with a beautiful, red and orange light as it shone through the window, his posters seemingly glowing at the other side of the room as a cause of it. He opened his phone, glancing at the text he sent to Hallie after a very, very long time of considering:
Me:
It's a beautiful evening. Wanna come watch the stars with me tonight? :)It was such a random text, at such a random time. He wasn't even sure if Hallie was free or not. But he longed to meet her and look into her beautiful, blue-green eyes again - he was certain that she would look even prettier when they were flecked with the stars of the night. Sighing, he rose from his bed and walked over to the window, gazing at the sun as it set. It was slightly covered by a house, but he still had a spectacular view from his window, which he was thankful for. Many evenings had been spent here, just looking at the sun, thinking.
He still couldn't believe that after all that happened between Hallie and her foster family, she chose to go back to their house and check everything out. See if she could stay there. He had told her that she was welcome to stay in his house for as long as she wanted - his parents wouldn't mind at all. His mother had went to visit his cousins in New Zealand, and his father was on a business trip. Where? Rowan didn't know. His father wasn't home much, he was always on those trips.
His thoughts were disturbed by a 'pling' coming from his phone. As soon as it buzzed, Rowan almost jumped to his bed and grabbed his phone to reveal the text Hallie had responded with:
Hallie <3:
Um, YES! I'll be there in five!! I have a lot of tea to spill
Rowan's heart skipped a beat as he read the message. She said yes! He quickly responded.
Me:
Alright, see ya :)As he pressed send, he placed the phone on his bed and smiled widely. This could be his chance to explain everything to Hallie - that he wasn't interested in Holly, that everything was gonna be fine, that she was so beautiful, that he really liked her. Maybe, just maybe, he considered it. Then he snapped out of his daydreaming. He had to go downstairs to meet her, of course. Swiftly opening his drawer of clothes, he chose an outfit for today's date; a vintage t-shirt, a jeans jacket, a pair of ripped jeans and a pair of converse. As soon as he was dressed and ready, he hurried downstairs, where he met Hallie in the hallway.
He lost his breath at the sight of her. She was dressed in a beautiful red top with a pair of high-waisted jeans, high boots, and her auburn hair was almost glistening. She blushed slightly, noticing how Rowan checked her out.
"Hi Rowan." she smiled softly, her lips curling into a cute smile. Rowan smiled back, noticing how nervous she looked. He took her hand, then pulled her into a hug. "It's nice to see you, Hallie. You look beautiful." Hallie chuckled softly, her eyes glistening as Rowan led her out, heading towards the place he intended their date.
The two walked together quiet for a while, simply enjoying the fact that they were together, but then Rowan broke the silence by asking her a crucial question. "You said something happened, what's up?" he turned his head around to look at her. Hallie's expression changed from glad to concerned and she sighed slightly. "I did some more investigation, and I found quite a lot of documents," she swallowed, seemingly distressed. Rowan grabbed her hand gently to support her, not noticing how his approach made Hallie blush. "A-And I found more of those 'gang-related' documents you talked about. There was something about my dad having debts to the gang he apparently was a member of - it stood he had to pay in blood." she shivered. A frown appeared on Rowan's forehead, and he blinked slowly, trying to figure out what it could mean. "What do you think it means?" Hallie asked. "I'm not certain. Maybe your father betrayed that 'gang', or something."
The two discussed it the whole walk to their destination, but after a little while, they approached a hill. Rowan skidded to a stop, pointing at the top of the hill. "There, that was what I meant by getting 'under the stars'." Hallie gazed up, smiling at the sight, nodding. Rowan grabbed her hand again and led her up, and the two laid down in the cold grass to gaze upwards at the billions and billions of glittering stars that spread like freckles over the night sky.
"It's so beautiful." Hallie sighed, her eyes glittering as they wandered over the light. Rowan turned his face to the side, gazing at her. "Yeah, it really is," he said, turning back again. He tried to remember all the different star signs he learnt when he was a kid, when he used to watch the stars together with his father. Three stars in a line, one above them... that's Gemini, right? His thoughts were interrupted by Hallie, who had brushed her ring finger against his, and turned her head to face him. "Rowan..." she murmured, "is it still okay if I stay with you, at your place? It's quite unsafe at my place, with my foster father and all." she sighed. Rowan smiled. Stay with you. That was all he wanted, he wanted Hallie to stay with him. "Of course it's alright." he replied. "Thank you. Thank you so much."
Comfortable silence swept over them as they simply watched the stars, admiring the beauty they rayed. Rowan couldn't get enough of the stars, but the only thing that could compare to them was Hallie. In the weak light, her eyes seemed to lit up, and her facial figures seemed to fade. Then, she suddenly rose to a sitting position, Rowan doing the same. "Look, Rowan, I'm so thankful you do all these things for me. Letting me stay at your place, and all." Smiling, Rowan reached out his hand to place it on her cheek. "It's really no big deal." She blushed, but looked overall happy. This was when Rowan realised he was leaning forward slowly, closing his eyes. Hallie did the same. Butterflies sent through his body, and he felt like he was levitating when their lips touched. Rowan held her there, still, a hand in her pretty hair and the other on her waist, pulling her closer to him. Hallie, seemingly smiling and blushing, twined his red hair in her fingers, deepening their kiss. They sat close to each other for at least a minute, before finally breaking away.
Hallie was blushing madly, her gaze flicking down, yet smiling. "It's getting late," she whispered, holding Rowan's hand. "Let's go home." Rowan smiled, nodding in agreement.
"Yeah."
