Chapter 10: Misunderstood

[NARRATOR'S POV]

      One morning, Shadow got a call from Silver. He wanted to see Shadow again because they haven't seen each other since the wedding, which was a long time ago. Sonic was eavesdropping on Shadow's conversation over the phone. Shadow told Silver he can't wait to meet up and have some fun. Turns out Sonic only appeared when Shadow told Silver he was excited to meet up. Sonic thought that Shadow had found another person love. 

Sonic: "I don't understand....How could you Shadow...?" He whispered as he started to cry. 

   Since they were back where they lived, Sonic decided to run away into the forest. Sonic knew there were atleast 5 forests in his town, so he decided to go to Ebony Forest. Sonic chose to go to the darkest forest they had. On the other hand, Shadow thought Sonic went to hang out with Amy, so he didn't know that Sonic was in the forest. 

     As night fell, Shadow started worrying. He decided to call Sonic to check if he's alright. When he dialed his number and pressed call, Sonic's ringtone was heard upstairs. That placed Shadow on the spot where he started panicking. He put on his shoes and went to search for Sonic. 

       Sonic found a nearby cliff that had a beautiful view of the ocean. He sat down and looked at the reflection of the moon swaying in the waves. As he kept eyeing the ocean, he started to cry again, but this time harder. Millions of tears rolled down his face. He couldn't help but cry it all out. Again, Sonic was barefoot, so his feet were freezing in his thin white socks. The cold air brushed against his blue fur. He couldn't stop crying, he just couldn't.

      Shadow looked everywhere in the city, and no Sonic. The only thing left to search was the 5 forests. He would need to explore The Forest Of Lyrics, Fireflies Of The Midnight Sky, The Forest Of Love, Blue Woodlands, and Ebony Forest. After he explored 3 of them, still nothing. As he ran around Blue Woodlands, he heard sobbing and sniffs in Ebony Forest. He quickly ran to the sound. He finally found Sonic sitting on the edge of the cliff.

Shadow: "Sonic! Are you alright?!"

Sonic: "Don't come near me....please..."

Shadow: "Sonic, what's wrong? Please tell me...."

Sonic: "Are..you cheating on me?"

Shadow: "What? No! Where did you get that from?"

Sonic: "If you're not cheating, then why did I hear you say you were excited to meet up with someone...."

Shadow: "Meet up with someone?....Oh...Sonic you idiot, I was talking to Silver! He wanted to hang out with me."

      Sonic stopped crying and felt ashamed. He knew he probably should of asked Shadow who he was talking to. He made Shadow worried for no reason....

Sonic: "I'm sorry......" He said as his voice trembled. Sonic had started to cry again.

Sonic: "I'm such an idiot......I'm sorry that I made you worry for no reason...."

Shadow: "It's fine, you misunderstood the conversation....Don't be hard on yourself.."

      Shadow hugged Sonic and they both went home. As they arrived at the house, they quickly headed upstairs and into bed. All night Sonic kept hugging Shadow, and both were sleeping well. Sonic knew he had a big day tomorrow because Shadow's birthday was in about a week, so he had to get prepared.
