This plot will include a lot of things that would seem like it will direct toward that Christianity is fake. Or other religions besides Norse on that matter. I'm going towards the direction that the history channel's show, vikings, went. I am in no way shape or form saying in my own opinion that these religions are fake. Believe what you want to believe in. I just want to show how the Vikings saw things, or thought they knew or saw if that makes sense. If you do not like this way of portraying the Norse religion, which I totally understand, I advise you to not read. If some of you do not mind then I hope you enjoy the story and if you do mind, I don't want you to read it if it makes you feel uneasy.

"Feels like forever since we went on a raid, Eirik" Asbjørn said while putting his hand on my shoulder "this one sure did fill up those empty slots" he patted my shoulder and walked away. I watched the blood from my chin drip to the ground and counted how many times it dripped until it stopped. The remaining time we are here is to calm, boring, so counting my blood drips is an exhilarating experience. It has been some time after our last raid, to much time. It seemed we have gotten a little weak. On the gods I wish that wasn't true.
"Eirik! It's time to go back home!" A shield-maiden yelled over to me. I sat up and grabbed my things. When I was walking to the boats I started looking at the scenery. The building is not familiar to me nor to anyone else. The people there did not fight, they just ran, and for strange reasons, they were riches there, but they seemed to only protect one thing. It was something that looked like a t. They call it a cross. The building was as weird. It had colored class and a big bell at the top. These were wealthy people, strange wealthy people.

The breeze on the water felt refreshing. We are almost home to where we will inform Earl Bjørn on our findings. I would be surprised if the Earl would even care. The boat caused a thud, which would mean we had hit land. I got up and picked up my things. I walked over to my brother with a grin
"Seems like, Henrik, that you are going to have to face you wife... and your pregnant lover today" I looked to my right and saw both of them "...or now" he sighed and looked at me
"You always have to rub my mistakes in my face, don't you, brother" I smiled and waved at the two woman and started making my way to the Earls house.

When I walked in the Earl greeted me with opened arms
"Eirik! I'm glad you got back safely. Seems like you haven't been touched, well, except for that chin there" I wiped the blood off of my chin
"It was easy, no one fought back. We brought a lot of riches"
"Good work, boy. I'll have you show them to me tonight. Tonight we shall celebrate the return of my worriers and of course the fallen ones as well. Been a long time since you guys sealed out, glad it went well and more then glad that sealing west was an improvement. That Ragnar Lothbrok over at Denmark sure was right" I nodded my head and started making my way towards the door
"And Eirik" I turned to look at the Earl. His face seemed to have turned more serious
"Yes, Earl?" He looked at his wife then looked at me
"I think... I think I'm not going to have much more time to live. I want" he sighed "I need someone to watch over this place. To lead men into battle. I need you" it took me a second to process what he had just said
"You want me to be Earl when you pass?" He put on a fake smile
"Yes, of course, my boy, of course" he walked over to me, put both of his hands on my shoulders, and looked straight at me "I trust you, Eirik. I watched you grow from a boy to a man. Now, I cannot live long enough to see your future on being someone stronger then you were as a boy, but I will die knowing that you will be a leader"
"Of course, Earl. I will not let you down" he put on a fake smile again and walked away. I stood their for a few seconds, questioning on why he would want me to follow in his footsteps. I mean, him knowing that my father killed his brother, should've made him doubtful of me. Either way, I will not do anything that would change his mind.

I walked inside my house and saw that a fire was lit. I went around the house looking to see if anyone was in here
"Hello?" I heard a woman's voice say. I Walked towards the voice. I saw a woman with armor on. She was a shield-maiden
"Why are you in my house?" She looked at me with confusion "what is it?"
"A man asked me to to return this and put it somewhere in this house" she held out a note "I figured it was his house" I took the note from her
"Did you read it?" She shook her head
"It's not my business" she walked to the door but I put my hand out over her chest to stop her
"Who was this man?"
"His name was Oddvar" I stood there thinking on how that was possible. Oddvar was an old friend of mine, but he has been gone for years. I pulled my hand away, so the woman could walk out the door. I sat down and looked at the note. I opened it up and started to read it.
