Ilvermorny-Part One

It seems like the most unsuspecting day to find out your life is in danger. It is the end of summer and the sun is setting, creating beautiful shades of purple, pink, orange, and yellow in the sky. Trees are all over, and flowers are enjoying their time to bloom while it isn't snowing during this lovely summer in Massachusetts. I take full advantage of the warmth as well; I sit outside on my roof, enjoying the great weather. One could say that it's the perfect day.

Well, at least it was, until I spot a palm-sized owl flying through the sky. He seems like he is heading towards me, so I wave. Yes, I know how dumb that sounds. But it's just instinct, okay?

As I was saying, he flies right next to me. I don't really know what to do. But then I notice the envelope tied to its pencil-skinny leg.

"Oh, lemme help you there..." but then I saw that the envelope is addressed to me. Very, oddly, specifically.

"Oh. Um..." I climb back through my window, suddenly feeling guilty and exposed because of the letter. I sit on my bed and opened the envelope. It reads:

So I'm mental. Or it's a prank. So what do I do? I yell, "CHARLIE? THIS ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE! COME HERE!"

My older brother, Charlie, comes to my bedroom. "Yes, sissy?" He asked, using a fake baby voice. God, I don't know why he still does that. He's almost fourteen.

"Ugh. Really?" I show the letter to him.

His eyes widened. "Mom! Mom, c'mere! She's got it, mom!"

Suddenly, I hear my mom stumble up the stairs. "What?"
"Mom! Her Ilvermorny invitation!" She appeared at my door.

"She got it?" she asked Charlie.

"Yes, mom!" The two of them start jumping up and down. Then my mom notices the look of confusion on my face.

"Oh, sweetheart... Ilvermorny is the school you'll be going to this year, and hopefully many years to come." She played with a piece of my pale pink hair. "I know you don't understand this now, but you're a witch. You've been showing signs since you are a very young child... We've been expecting this."

I flop on my bed. "You mean, I'm a witch?" She nods. "Like, abracadabra?"

"Mhm. Well, not exactly... but also, yes."

"Like, magic?"

"Yes, sweetie. You're a witch."

"This isn't a prank?" I ask.

She sits down next to me. "No, sweetheart. This is not a prank. You're a witch. I know it's hard to understand, believe me. I was there. But you have to believe that we're being for real here, honey. Honest. But you're still young and innocent.

"Listen. You will start school in a week. Charlie will be going back."

"You mean he hasn't been going to some random boarding school?"

"He's been going to Ilvermorny. Once you are there, you'll be sorted into a House. It will be either Horned Serpent, Thunderbird, Wampus, or Pukwudgie. I was a Thunderbird, but whatever you are, I'll be proud of. Your brother is a Wampus, just by the way. Now, should we go shopping?"

"Yes!" I yell. What? I love back-to-school shopping. "But where?"

"Diagon Alley."
