Hi, this is my first ever story, so try not to be toooooo critical when reading! I hope you like it!
“What?! No.. I need you here.. NOW. I’m seriously scared, Dakota” you could feel the urgency in her voice “, I really need you, please.” Taylor finished. “Okay, okay, I’ll be there in… 2 minuets… Okay?” Dakota reassured her as he glanced at his neon green clock that hung on his wall. He had to make time for Taylor, but how was he going to get to her in a matter of minutes?! She was ALL the way across town!! Taylor’s pleading broke his internal debate, “Dakota? Please hurry… Please…” “I will… Taylor, I promise you I’ll hurry. I’ll go as fast as I can, without breaking the law, that is.” He smiled silently, picturing Taylor’s warming smile back. Taylor laughed, her sweet ringing laugh, “Okay, I guess I’ll see you soon then, Bye Dakota…” “Hang tight, Bye Taylor…” Sadly Dakota replaced the phone in the receiver. “Urg, where is the telephone book?!” Dakota muttered to himself as he scuttled about the place. Dakota got out on the streets and whistled, “Hey! Taxi! OVER HERE!!!” He waved his hands above him to try to get the taxi driver to look. A Taxi pulled over and Dakota hopped in and told the driver “Take me to Center Square, FAST!” The driver turned in his seat and stared, wide-eyed at Dakota like he was insane, “Whoa, Whoa, Whoa there Buddy! That’s all across town! You sure you have the bucks to pay?” With his East-Coast accent it was hard to understand him, but Dakota got by. “Yes, I am 100% sure I have the cash.” The driver eyed him suspiciously, “Show me…” Dakota pulled out a wad of fifties from his old brown leather wallet. Shocked and open mouthed the Taxi driver stared at the huge wad of cash. “HELLO?!,” Dakota waved his hand in front of the drivers face, breaking his trance “ Center Square… NOW!” The Driver nodded and sped off, taking the back roads so that he could avoid traffic. The taxi screeched to a stop about 5 minutes later and Dakota threw a fifty at the driver and slammed the door, sprinting to his destination.
“1412… 1417… AH HA! 1419 Houston Street!” Dakota took the steps by two and stopped to admire how new the robin’s egg blue paint looked. Shaking his head Dakota knocked on Taylor’s door. One short rap did it, because Taylor quickly appeared in the doorway and pulled him inside. “Gosh! Since when were you so rough Taylor?” Dakota said jokingly. He laughed, but after he took one look at Taylor’s face, he went completely silent. She looked as if she hadn’t slept for weeks! Dakota gasped and pulled her over to the couch and sat her down next to him. “Oh.my.gosh! Taylor! What’s wrong? What happened? Are you okay?” Dakota was honestly and truly distressing over her. Dakota was pacing around her and she got up and grabbed a hold of him, “One. CLAM DOWN! Two,” Taylor stopped, sighed and pulled back the sleeve of her psychedelic purple T-shirt; revealing her swollen, bruise blue shoulder. Dakota gasped and tears streamed down his face. “Oh… Taylor…. Wh-what happened?!” He tried to speak in between little gasping breaths. Taylor hesitated, but seeing his pain, she spoke “… It… It’s… Leo…” Leo was Taylor’s soon-to-be step-father. Dakota’s shock was replaced with anger as Taylor spoke the name, “WHAT?! THAT LITTLE-“Taylor covered his mouth, “I know I really should have told someone earlier… and you are really all I have…” Now she was crying too. “Wait,” Dakota paused to let his brain process what she had just said, “You said that… you should have told me earlier? Tay, How long has this been going on?” Taylor bent her head and stared at the ground as Dakota used her nickname from their childhood. “I… I don’t really remember… Maybe… a few months?... two or three?” Dakota’s eyes showed worry and caring and Taylor knew she could trust him. “I’m so sorry, Dakota! I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU!” Taylor flung herself into his waiting arms, “I just… I… I don’t know… My mom is so happy with him… and I don’t want to ruin that by telling her… Dakota… Please don’t tell… Please…” Dakota was stuck between two choices, the one for Taylor’s health… and the one that makes her happy. He had to decide… but they both had things that made the situation worse… “Okay, Taylor… I will never, I repeat, NEVER tell your mom OR anyone else about this… okay?” Dakota wasn’t all that pleased with himself but he knew what he had to do. He couldn’t tell, not a soul.
