Chapter 12 – The Blue Vial

"So you talked to Draico today?" tanong ko kay Noah na abala sa pag-aayos ng kaniyang mga gamit sa kaniyang desk. Kapansin-pansin ang pananahimik nito at di makikitaan ng kahit na anong kasiyahan sa mukha nito, a total opposite of the Noah I saw yesterday.

"Yes," sagot ni Noah na hindi man lang ako tinatapunan ng tingin. I nodded and fixed my stuff too.

"He might be a bit boastful but he's a good guy," sabi ko sa kaniya. Baka na-bad mood 'to dahil sa kayabangan ng asungot na 'yon. "You would see more of him as days go by. Sinasabi ko lang na nasa gitna tayo ng krisis at maikli lang ang buhay natin para magkaroon pa ng isang away at magkaroon ng disgusto sa isa't isa."

"Are those words for me or for yourself? There's still a lot of drama going on between you and Stephanie Go," sagot niya na nagpalaki ng aking mga mata. Napaiwas ako ng aking tingin. I met Stephanie at the hallway a while ago and I just passed by her like a total stranger.

"That's another story, hindi mo alam kung anong mga ginawa niya."

"Oh, believe me I do, ikaw ang walang alam sa pagkatao ko," sabi ni Noah na nagpakunot ng aking noo. "I appreciate you trying to assure me that he's a good guy. Don't worry, he's not the reason for these wrinkles. He sure is loved by many."

"Nah, I don't love him," I chuckled. He also chuckled. Mabuti naman at tumawa na siya.

Napalingon kami nang biglang may kumatok sa pintuan. I pressed the remote key and the door opened automatically. Pumasok ang isang maid na may pormal na ngiti sa labi.

"Mister Ivan wants to see you at the laboratory," sabi ng maid sa akin. Tumango naman ako.

"I'll be in a minute," sabi ko. Lumabas naman ang maid at naiwan kaming dalawa ni Noah.

"Are you done arranging your stuff? Sabay na tayong pumunta doon," sabi ko. Napatingin naman siya sa akin.

"He's only looking for you, I'll just stay here," sagot niya. Umiling ako.

"You are the assistant head. We might be checking something important in the laboratory, we shall not miss it," sabi ko at tumayo na. Kinuha ko ang lab gown at dali-daling sinuot. I tied my hair in a bun and grabbed a mask and gloves. "Let's go."

"Fine," sabi niya at tumayo na rin. Sinuot niya ang sariling lab gown and a mask ang gloves. Nauna akong lumabas. Sumunod naman siya.

Habang naglalakad ay di ko maiwasang magtaka kung bakit gusto akong makita ni Tito Ivan sa laboratory. He's assigned to command the military trainees so I never expected him to see me in a lab. I just feel like this is quite important.

Nang makarating kami sa laboratory, we sanitized our hands before wearing our mask and gloves. A monitor checked us up before we can get through the second door that leads to the laboratory.

When the monitor is green, it means it's on standby. When it's red, it is on the process of checking the person in front of it. It's checking for guns, sharp objects present on one's body, even the status of our body; our weight, height, and the neatness of each parts of the body. When the monitor shows a blue light, it means that the person can pass. If it rings and shows a blinking yellow light, it means that the person can't pass.

"What a tight security," komento ko. Noah chuckled. When the monitor turned blue, the door opened. Agad naman kaming pumasok at agad ring nagsara ang pinto.
