DRACO'S POV-
"Pansy, I've told you already- I'm over with Potter. I'm just going to ignore his stupid face and that's final."
"Sureeeee, Draco, whatever helps you sleep at night." Pansy tilted her head towards him and smirked. "And for the record, that's been the fourth time you've said something along those lines."
"OH SHUT UP!" Pansy knew at this point it would be in her best interest to run in a fit of giggles.

Draco Malfoy, known to many as just simply Malfoy, kinda not so much really did not like the idea of ignoring Harry. Since the second year, he had realized that he didn't want to hate Harry, and he didn't want to do his father's dirty work either. Well, Harry did hang out with Mudblood and Weasley, so, what could Draco do?
***
"Welcome back, students, and to all of you lovely first years, welcome to Hogwarts, the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" Dumbledore's speech was as boring as ever, almost making Draco fall asleep.
"This year we have some special announcements to make." He waved his wand around making the candles on his pedestal light up. "First of all, around February we're holding Valentine's dance. We will be sending you a letter with the name of a student you will have to send compliments to, and/or presents if you wish. All letters sent will be anonymous. If you end up figuring out who sends you your letters, then bravo!" That got Draco's attention.
How are we supposed to that? Why- do we get to choose? Can I choose Harry? Then I won't have to ignore him, oh please! Draco's mind was racing with thoughts, most of Harry. Draco had first realized that it was Harry's eyes that had gotten his attention.
"Second of all, please give a warm welcome back to our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin!" There were "welcome back's" and sighs from the students sitting at the tables before them, as, they had thought that job was cursed and a teacher couldn't stay more than a year because something bad would happen.
"Glad to be back Albus, thank you for having me again." Professor Lupin stood up and waved to the crowd of students chanting his name. Draco saw that the professor made sure he got a good glimpse of Harry, giving him a wink and a slight wave of the back of his hand, showing off a ring- it was grey with a moonstone on it that shimmered with what seemed to be diamonds.
Draco groaned. Professor Lupin was his least favorite out of his previous teachers, he always found a way to make things about Harry back in 3rd year where it was eventually revealed he was a werewolf and ha decided it would be best to leave.
So why was he back now?
"Now I believe it is time for the sorting ceremony. Sorting Hat, if you will-"
Draco groaned for what felt to be his 100th time today. It was going to be one long night back at Hogwarts.
***
"Tutoring? Really?" Draco protested. "Do you honestly think I would-"
"Yes, really, Mr. Malfoy. Now both of you, out." Snape shot back. He had held Harry and Draco back so he could tell them he had just made Draco's year but ruined Harry's.
Draco headed back to the dungeons, waiting for a nice bed to sleep in. "Balderdash," Draco said to the painting who was having a jolly time sleeping. The knight in the painting grudgingly creaked open, revealing the Slytherin common room.
"So, how was the date with Potter?" Blaise called.
"This is nothing to laugh about, Blaise, I have to now tutor that bloody buffoon until he gets his grades up!" Draco chided
He headed towards the boy's dormitories, thinking of how he wanted to have Harry for the note- not anyone else. He wanted to have Harry so badly it was hard to fall asleep at night. Draco hoped that the teachers would give him Harry since they didn't get along.
IN FEBRUARY
"You got Potter?" Zabini was shocked in an amusing way, but Draco was silently thanking the teachers."They just want us to suffer I bet, I got Longbottom."
"I got Brown, like they think I can compliment her on anything. She's a total wus." Blaise complained.

HARRY'S POV
"Malfoy? Harry, that's bloody hilarious! Wait 'till Hermione hears about this! What are you going to compliment him on, his git skills?" Ron was laughing his head off, watching Harry warm his hands over the fire.
It was February and by now everyone had gotten their own personal letters letting them know who their, for a lack of a better word, "penpal" was for this Valentine's day event.
"Oh, shut up Ron." Harry was actually quite glad he got Draco. He was tired of being enemies, and, hey, maybe they could even be friends.
"Hey, mate, aren't you getting tutored by Malfoy again today? Man, that must suck." tutoring- Harry had completely forgotten about it. And it's being held in the room of requirement.
"Yeah, for potions! Like Malfoy could help with that." Harry paced around the common room. "Out of all the stupid classes we're being forced to take, it just had to be Professor Snape's class."
***
"Malfoy." Harry didn't want to sound like he wanted to be there, but didn't want to sound mean.
"Potter." Draco sounded reluctant to see Harry, but was still nicer than usual.
***
"Look, neither of us wants to be here-"
Harry suddenly stood up from the cushioned chair he was sitting on and looked down on Draco. Wishing that it wasn't as rude as it felt, "Draco, look, please, I'm tired of us hating each other. Can we at least be allies?" Harry was nervous about how Draco would react but was surprised.
"Okay," Draco said a little too quickly. "Er, maybe. It's not like- I don't want- I don't care- Fine, Potter."
"Draco, stop calling me that." Harry walked closer to Draco, making Draco turn red.
"Harry?" Ron's voice brought Harry back from the awkward silence after Harry had walked closer to Draco and told him to stop calling him 'Potter', now realizing Draco had never shown any real affection to girls. But he had never shown affection to boys either.
"Harry?" Ron interrupted his thinking again, making Harry realize he was blocking the door.
"Sorry." Harry got in bed, thinking of Draco, and drifted off.
