I slowly trudge into the drab hallways of Freemont High (home of the Wolverines). As I approach my locker someone claps me hard on my back. As I turn around Nat grins back at me, a wide toothy grin that vaguely resembles that of a child after he/she has committed some devious crime. Nat( full name Nathaniel, yes she's a girl) is a real looker. Tall, auburn hair that's dyed blue at the end. She's all long legs and perfect teeth and cute clothes. She's one of the girliest girls and yet we somehow get along. As I turn to greet her she squishes me into a huge bear hug.
" Your boobs are crushing me Nat", I say.
" Oh sorry, it's just I'm soooo excited to see you. It feels like years since we have talked" she says.
" It's only been like two months, but yes I missed you too," I reply.
" Oh goody! So guess what I did this summer...."
And she proceeded to talk about her expensive vacation which she spent in some ski resort and she started telling me about the guy who she saw in the hot tub who looked our age but talked like he was much older. I only gave half an ear to what she was saying as I was concentrating on getting my stuff out of my locker in order and walking through the hallway without getting trampled alive.

As the last bell rings, I'm a literal mess after running from one end of the school to the other. My timetable is such that I'm five minutes late for each class and literally running at breakneck speed before the bell can actually ring. My last period of the day was physical education and coach made us run laps around the gym. By the end of the day, I smelt like sweat and mildew along with a huge serving of exhaustion. Next, to me, Nat sashays along prattling on and on endlessly about everything under the sun, shes the type of person who could easily destroy any awkward silence and also is sorta a good wing-woman. Hasn't worked to my advantage so far but you never know when it might happen. As my thoughts trail on I don't realise that I've walked onto the road. I don't hear nat screaming at me to get out of the way I just feel the searing heat and pain that shoots up my side as the car crashes into me hurling me across towards the sidewalk.
