Wonderful Night - Criminal Case Fanfiction

The Story

After a long day solving the murder of Billy Snapshot, arresting his killer, Ellie Argent and before going to Houston, the T.I.M.E team decided to celebrate in the fanciest sushi restaurant they can find, which was Jack's idea. Everyone was here, except Kai, he said that he needed to rest because he didn't get much sleep recently. 

Amy was having a conversation with Nebet who asked her how she became the person that she is today. Amy told her some stories about her time at the Pacific Bay Police Department, the time where she caught her first serial killer, where she survived an artificial hurricane, where her ex-boyfriend turnt out to be a cruel cannibal, where she lost her best friend and then, she realized that everyone was silent. They were all listening to Amy's stories, since Jack and Theo were crying. Amy decided to continue her stories with the realization of her brother being a serial killer.

- Did... did you talk to him after that, Miss Amy?, said Nebet, shyly. 

- Please call me Amy, but yes I did. I visit him every year. Even if I don't agree with his past actions, I still love my big brother and care for him. 

Everyone started to say "Awww" which made Amy smile for a second before continuing her stories. When she finished, almost everyone was in tears, because of how touching her story was and started to have conversations with each other again.

Orlando and Penelope were talking about their favorite moments of the 1960s with Marina, who simply just agreed with them. Janis joined the conversation too and gave more stories of herself during the 60s, inspiring herself from Amy. They all end up talking about their next mission in Texas and what potential problems they would have.

Jack decided to challenge Theo to a challenge of who could eat the most sushi in 5 minutes. Theo was going to refuse, until Zara and Penny encouraged him to do it, saying that it's a new experience that he should try. Theo finally accepted and competed against Jack. It ended up in a tie, shocking Zara, Penny and Jack. The two boys ran to the bathroom after the contest, making the two girls laugh. After 10 minutes, Orlando went to check on them, to Amy's demand, to see if they are both okay.

While the two boys were not feeling well in the bathroom, Zara and Penny were having a conversation about their favorite animals, to pass the time. They were both having a great time, especially Penny, who had a crush on Zara for a while. She decided to keep her feelings for herself, since she noticed that Theodore and Kai had a crush on her as well. What a popular girl! Unlike the two boys, she only spend time with her when the team was around, so it doesn't feel weird between the two of them.

After a long night at the Sushi restaurant, they all started to walk to the ship. Penelope and Orlando were holding Theodore together, who couldn't walk and Amy and Nebet took care of Jack. On the way to the ship, Zara noticed that Penny was more tired than usual, maybe it was just an inch. She approached her and told her:

- Are you tired? Here, I'll carry you the rest of the way.

- Wait... you don't have to do this-

Without letting Penny finish, Zara grabbed her like a baby and continued walking. Penny was trying her best to hide her face, which was a deep red. 

- Are you okay? Maybe-

- I am fine! I'm just... shocked and tired. 

- Oh! It's going to be alright!

Zara continued walking, loosing the sight of her friends who were really far, but she was not worried at all. She knew how to get to the ship and she knew that they would wait for them there. Before Penny fell asleep, Zara started to ask her something:

- Hey Penny, I want to ask something that I have been thinking for a while.

- What... is it?

- I noticed that we don't hang up a lot as much as before! We only do when the entire team is there and I was wondering if you were interested to hang out with me more, outside of our job of course. It's fun spending time with you!

- Well, I would love to, but you were always with the others that I never had the courage to ask you to hang out... 

- Awww Penny! You don't need to be shy, the T.I.M.E team is your family, that includes me! I would never say no to you and if I am busy, I would find some time for you, like I do with everyone! I don't want to leave you behind you know...

- It's okay! Besides, I love hanging out with Janis, so I don't mind! 

Even if Penny was lying, she didn't want Zara to feel bad for her. She really cares and would never hurt her feelings. She only wants her to be happy!

- Okay, if you say so... but do you want to hang out with me in the future? Like after our mission in Houston!

- Well, if it makes you happy, of course... *yawns* Sorry, I'm just really tired.

- It's fine Penny, I'll get you to the ship, you can sleep.

After 5 minutes, Penny fell asleep in Zara's arms, making her smile. She finally arrived at the ship, went to Penny's room and laid her down on her bed. She closed the lights, smiled at Penny for the last time in the night and left the room.
