i pick up my bags and put them in the trunk of the car.
"mom, are we finally ready?" i whine. mom looks at me smiling.
"yes, i got everything. now get in the car, this will be a long ride." i groan, long ride, how fun~ i think to myself while i hop in the passenger seat.
"buckled up?" my mom ask while she grabs her buckle and buckles it. i do the same with mine. then, i look out the window and sigh.
"uh, mom.?"
"yes haley?"
"how long will this be?" i ask very nervously. i cant handle being stuck in one seat for god knows how long. i will lose my sanity.
"oh, about.. 2, 3, 4, 5, couple hours?"
"wow." i look out of my window.
i felt tired so i went to sleep. until 10 minutes later a huge bump woke me up. i rolled my eyes. then, i got my mp3 player out, popped my earbuds in and i listened to whatever was on. it was drain you by nirvana. my family always has been into rock. i recently gotten into the whole grunge movement.
minutes later we finally get to our low life house. it has a light yellow tint to it, maybe a two story building. we used to live in seattle but we moved to aberdeen. (this is all in washington) i grab much stuff as i can and i set it down on my new porch. this town seems so, quiet. its almost heart breaking. im so used to the loud noises and cars driving by everywhere.
"did you know haley, kurt cobain, the lead singer of nirvana, lived in this town?" while she was telling me this she was putting boxes ontop of my stuff.
"oh nice." i said quietly. i thought it was nice though, he seems to be a wise man. his music means a lot to me.
what felt like days later, we finally got everything out of the car and into the house. it smelt funny, and old. dust was everywhere, looks like no one wanted to buy this place. i wouldn't blame them. i got to pick a room to sleep in as i were to be the only child. i chose a semi large but also small room. like a medium sized room. i liked it.
i got my clothes in the closet, got my bin ready for dirty ones, setted my posters up, etc. etc. its a dark red room and it seems pretty nice. i look around the room, wondering where i should put the bed. maybe by the window still? near the heater? i have no idea. i'll have to make my own bed with just a mattress and pillows and blankets.
i go check on my mom to see what shes up to. shes in the kitchen looking around for any extra stuff. usually people leave stuff from their old housed either they forget it or just dont want it. once we found a book full of baby pictures. we kept it to wait for the owner but they never came.
"oh hey sweetie! i was thinking and so that you're 16 maybe you can now adventure outdoors!" she placed her hands on my shoulders. they felt cold.
"oh nice." she looked at me with a desperate smile. i almost feel bad for not caring much. after dad left shes been over working herself and breaking down sometimes. so i smiled back. she grown an almost relief smile, which made me happy.
"i think this will be good for you, i think you need to socialize more. and this is a small town, its easy to know your way around." she tilted her head at a 20° angle to her left and looked at my clothes. i was wearing light blue jeans with a pink floyd shirt. though i only knew a couple songs from them, they had some good shirts. she turned me around and patted my shoulder, then pushed me out of the door. i walked away a little until she shouted my name to get my attention.
"when the street lights come on, come home!" she waved at me and blew me a kiss. i smiled and waved back.
"i'll take care of the dust, dont you worry. and i'll find a store, and if they have it, i'll buy subs." she waved again but this time closing the door. it felt weird. something made me worry. but i shrugged it off and walked along the street.•••••
as i was walking i found a bridge. i went under it and there was a lot of spray paints on the wall, and some spray cans too. i tried some to see if they would work, and one did. i just put "love and". then. it stopped working. i gave up so i chucked it. then i heard a voice behind me.
"who're you?" a boy said. his voice sounded a little high pitched. maybe it's the basic seventh grade jocks. i turned around to see a ginger starring at me.
"none of your business?" i said while crossing my arms.
"damn, sassy much?" he laughed. he had a horrible bowl cut, his mom probably did it. he had freckles and he was pretty white, almost like a leprechaun.
"what are you even doing here, you probably shouldn't even be alone right now."
"oh i heard that story over and over. well actually, im 14 so im allowed to be alone, as i got permission from my dad." he looked down at the half-dead grass.
"mh. well whats your name." i asked half politely, half harsh.
"avery, you?" he looked like an avery.
"haley. i just moved here." he looked at me surprised.
"really? this town is so dead! good luck trying to fit in right!" he said chuckling.
"is this a threat?" i was pretty offended a leprechaun looking ass would say that to me.
"damn, its a joke. where were you before you moved here?" he tilted his head with a curious face.
"seattle. too noisy and too much of everything so we moved here." his face turned shocked.
"man i wanna live in seattle! but mom said its too expensive."
"yeah, thats also a reason why we moved." it was to get away from dad. he got weird sometimes. suddenly the street lights came on.
"shit, gotta head home." avery said while walking away.
"me too." i said walking the opposite direction from him.
"oh! haley erm, i live at that green house right there! come over whenever you want!" he smiled and skidded away. i smiled and shook my head. i walked towards streets i think were the way home and i finally found mine.
i knocked on the door and yelled my moms name, which is mom. she opened the door smiling. she greeted me in and i looked around the place. it was less dusty but still a little dusty.
"so, how did i do?" she looked st me, with a proud grin.
"it's improved. good job." i looked at her smiling.
"oh! i got the subs, walmart had some. i got myself a meatball sub, i got you a ham, lettuce, pickles, everything you like." she hands me this wrapped up sub with a sticker saying "ALL AMERICAN SUBS 1992". i sat on a foldable chair, unwrapped the sub, and ate it. it honestly tasted bad but it was all we had.•••••
it was around 10:30ish and i was starting to get sleepy. so i went on upstairs and laid out everything, and laid down. i looked up at the celling and i just thought about everything. i mean the main reason why we moved was because dad stalked us and harrassed us. i soon fell asleep feeling miserable.
this sucks.
