I lay on the grass as the stars made there appearance in the progressively darkening sky.
My impromptu appearance at the church had been about three weeks ago. I'm still harbouring a deep contempt towards the young prince. but to my annoyance I coldest keep my self angry at him for long. I wanted to be angry, angry was easy, angry was safe, I could deal with angry.
'He was only trying to help though. It's not fear to take it out on him.'
I don't care He's a sexiest ass and I didn't ask for his help.
'It's a nice ass though'
Shut up, he just gets in my way
'But he was willing to help you!'
I don't care!
'But you do'
I was bought out of my internal disagreement by low Growling from above my head.
stood there was a dog. it was boney and rugged, hardly threatening. I'd seen him once or twice wondering in the town square, looking for food. he'd managed to steel Little bits but most times he just find an angry shop keeper with a broom.
he looked as hungry as i felt. id been living off of the rations in my bag, eking them out as far as they would go but they still only lasted out till about four/ five days ago. I hadn't had a proper meal in longer.
in a mixture of fiteag and stubbornness i had stayed put. i didn't resorting to stealing. not that the motion of stealing bothered me, i just didn't want to give them the satisfaction... And i didn't want to get hit with a broom again
Another growl resounded from the bedraggled animal.
"I'm sorry boy, I've got nothing for you."
When his growling only increased I sighed. I don't want to deal with him today. I closed my eyes pretending to go back to sleep, resting one hand palm open near my head.
After a will the growling stopped as the sound of sniffing replaced it.
The sound moved away. smelling my bag, looking for food that was long gone. finding nothing he moved onto my still sodden shoes. then there was a familiar wet prodding on my hand.
I opened my eyes, turning my head to look at he mange thing. slowly so not to provoke the dog. I moved the hand he was sniffing to pat him on the head. when he leaned into my touch I repeated the Motion, absentmindedly stroking him.
"They mean to you too buddy?"
He responded with a small wimper as he curled into my shoulder.
I closed my eyes breathing in deeply, letting the sent of the night fill me.
I listens to a set of shuffling steps approached me. it sounded male. he'd been stood at the edge of the green for a will. not doing anything. just watching.
not in a threatening way but as if... debating something.
The footsteps were familiar but I didn't know were from?
I felt him stop just next to me as the dog stood up, growling at the newcomer.
Ahh ... Alfred.
"Good evening miss. I see you have made a friend."
I didn't say anything. I didn't respond, i just lazily opened my eyes and turned my head a bit to indicate I was listening.
In the half light watched him draw a Peace of meat from out his satchel. before trowing it a Little way away for the dog to follow. I watched the mut gobble it up. my gut suddenly clenching in hunger.
