Chapter 17. Lost

It's a beautiful morning, the sun is shining, and it feels good. I just woke up two hours ago from the sound of my phone ringing. It was Charles. "Good morning Beautiful, how's our little boy doing?" He sounds so hyped.
"You know waking a pregnant woman up is a bad thing because now your son and I will be mad at you."
"Well I'm sorry and let our son know that daddy's sorry too.  Anyway, I have a surprise for you beautiful, it's waiting for you outside." I look out the window and see a freakin car with a bow on it. And it wasn't a regular old car, it's a red 2018 Chevrolet equinox premier. The heck is his problem with surprising me all the time.

"What is a 2018 chevrolet equinox premier doing in my driveway?"
"I heard that you always wanted one so I thought that maybe I'll give it to you as a surprise before our baby is here."
I just smile, grateful at the fact that Noah will have a loving father in his life.
My father left me when I was younger, so I never wanted that for my son or daughter.

"Yeah but that doesn't mean I want it now, Charles this-this is too much. I don't want people to think that I'm just using you for your money, Okay? No more surprises, so you have to come and take this back."

"I could but I already put it in your name. So I guess it's suck there unless you trash it yourself."
"You should've asked me first. What am I gonna do with this car hhhmmm?"
"Hmmmm, I don't know, drive, get groceries for our kid, go to work, etc. You can do whatever Natalie, it's yours. Hey I gotta go but Josie wants to have another girl's day with you. Are you cool with it?"
"Yeah, yeah she texted me already so I'm about to get up and take a shower while I wait for her."
"Okay well, I'll see you this afternoon. Tell Noah daddy will miss him."
I laughed. "Okay I will."

I get up to get in the shower but Noah on the other hand, obviously didn't want me to by the way he was kicking so much.

"Hey mommy needs to take a shower ok? Please stop kicking." I told him. They say if you talk to your baby while he or she is still in your womb they actually listen and Noah does.

Josie got here and we went shopping.
"So tell me again why are we shopping?" I asked while she looked at a red dress.
"I just thought that maybe after we shop we'll get time to get to know each other a little bit better. I can't wait to meet my nephew." She says sounding excited.

The shopping goes on and on and on until she drove me somewhere and made me cover my eyes.
"Is it really necessary that I have to cover my eyes." I say as we get out the car.
"Yes and we're almost there. Just two more steps and....stand right here...... now open your eyes."

"SURPRISE" I hear voices yell.
I opened my eyes to see everyone that I know. They threw me a late baby shower. "So are you surprised?" Josie asks.
"Yes! Awww this is sooo sweet. Thank you!" I say hugging her.
"Of course, go have fun." Josie says, nudging me towards everybody.

Finally it was time to open the gifts that everyone bought. They had me sit in a chair with blue colors around Noah's name.

"Okay now it's time for the gifts." Josie says in the microphone.
The first person that came up was my mom. "I hope he likes it as much as you did." She says as she hands me a gift bag with a little bear that I used to have when I was little. "Awww he will, thank you mom." I said smiling in joy.

The next person who came up was Zoe and Adam. "This one is from his favorite aunt and uncle." Zoe says as they hand me a blue baby walker and a gift bag with baby clothes in it. "Thank you guys." I say getting up to hug Zoe and Adam, glad that they're here.

The other person that came up was Finn. "It's not much but I hope he likes it as much as you do." Finn likes to make things out of wood and he made a little wooden toy bear. "awwwwww thanks Finn."

A lot of people come up with their gifts and it got a little overwhelming so I decided to step away for a bit and go into the backyard. I sit there touching my belly. I can feel him kick.

"I hope I wasn't too late to give him this." I turn around when I hear the sound of a male voice and see this tall man, holding a blue gift bag. Funny thing is, I don't know who he is but I had to play it cool and act as if I knew him.
"No you're not but you can give it to Josie, she's the one-"
"-with dark brown hair." He finished what I was gonna say.

"Umm yea. She'll take it for you, I'm just taking a break from opening gifts."
"I could but I really just wanted to personally give it to my nephew."
"Nephew? Are you Charles brother?"
"Yea, twins actually."

"Wow, I didn't know that. I'm Natalie and uhh-" I say looking down at my stomach "-this is Noah."
"Yea, I heard from Charles even though we don't really talk much. Anyway, I hope he likes this as much as his father did. It was his favorite growing up."

I looked inside the bag and it was a little bunny. He was about to leave when I stopped him.
"Hey Wait. You never told me your name."

"It's Michael. It was nice meeting you Natalie and I can't wait to meet you Noah." Noah kicked right after he said that.
He left and I gave myself a bit more time before going back inside.

I go back inside and the party was going just fine. Charles came to me.
"Hey."
"Hey how's my baby mama doing?"
"Ewww don't call me that but I'm very well. You?"
"I'm great."
"Good. Hey, I met your twin brother....." I trail off forgetting his name already.
"Michael."
"Yea Michael. I didn't know you had a twin, that's so cool."
"Yea, I haven't heard from him since." He stops himself and I can tell that he doesn't want to talk about whatever happened between them.
"Hey, it's fine. We can talk about something else yeah? Like where were today you?" I asked while he walked me to his car.

"I was doing something. It's a surprise."
"God I hate when you plan surprises."
"Why, there always great surprises."
"Yeah right."

"We're here." He says getting out of the car.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"We're at my house."
"Okay what are we doing here then?"
"You'll have to wait and see."
"Okay" We go inside and I just follow him to some unknown room.
He turns on the lights and their was baby stuff and everything for Noah.

"Wow this-this is beautiful. You do know that I already have his room ready right?"
"Yeah I know but I thought that maybe when he comes here he'll have everything ready to go, a room and everything. You can stay here if you want to."

I just realized that we're close to one another and I feel like he's about to kiss me.
"You know I can't." I say quickly
"Why? Is it because of Elizabeth because she doesn't live here anymore. I can make it work. For you. For us. For him." He says as he touched my belly.

"I can't be the reason you end your marriage. I just can't."
He kisses me and I can't resist kissing him back. It's the first time we kissed since the night we slept together. "We shouldn't." I say
and all of a sudden I feel a pain in my stomach. "Owwww."
"Are you Okay?"
"No owwwww" I've never felt this pain before. Then I look down between my legs and see why. "My water broke. Ahhh we have to go to the hospital NOW."
