Allosaurus's mother had been keeping them long enough.
She growled, and scratched the ground. She was hungry, and her chicks were plump and needy, despite being strong enough to go. She had to kick them out.
She watched her young run over. They had gotten big,and were a lot healthier than her. She stood up and growled. Allosaurus and her siblings looked at their mother curiously. Their mother snarled and glared at them with a predatory manor, nothing like the familiar motherly gaze. The chicks got scared. They backed away as their mother kicked and snapped. She hissed and charged at them, chasing them away. They cheeped in confusion and terror. Allosaurus ran away, darting through the undergrowth of their nest and into the woods. She was alone now. And there was no mother to help her.Evening came like an inky blanket of stars. Soon,Allosaurus was almost blind to the darkness. She was only the size of a sheepdog, and she was lanky and clumsy. She looked around, her yellow eyes full of fear. Her stomach rumbled like a miniature thunderstorm, and she whined, nuzzling it. Suddenly, she heard a rustle. She snuck around a rock and saw a small mammal eating some worms. This was Allosaurus's chance! She rushed forwards, startling the mammal and chasing it over a rock and through a tree trunk. The frightened mammal backed away into the trunk, as Allosaurus hungrily scratched and snapped, trying to retrieve her prey. Suddenly,a slender head grabbed the mammal, yanking its struggling victim out of the trunk. Allosaurus looked up and saw a slender, eerie Coelurus! It snapped up the mammal in a heartbeat, and blinked slowly.Allosaurus backed away,as the strange, bird-like thief growled and got ready to pounce. Allosaurus took this as a chance to flee, and she ran off, hearing the Coelurus close behind her. She hid in an old burrow, which she could just squeeze into. She curled up, and watched the entrance anxiously, waiting to see her pursuers head dart in and grab her. But to no avail, The Coelurus had retreated, for she had decided that the mammal was enough.
