Anna's POV
Tingles spread down my arms as I thought of Xavier.
Xavier.
Who would have thought that he would fall for a nobody like me?
I had woken this morning to find a note. That note now sat in my jacket pocket.
Belle,
Meet me in the music room when you wake up.
Xavier
It wasn't anything even remotely special but at the same time, it was. After having read the note, I jumped out of bed and went to the bathroom mirror. What I saw was worse than usual.
Grabbing a brush, I forced it through my tangled up hair before applying some make-up. Not to much that made me look like a cake-face, more of a natural look.
Skimming through my closet until I found the floral sun dress I had bought and matched it with a pair of white pumps and a denim jacket that had pockets on the side.
Checking my appearance in the mirror, I carefully slid the note into my jacket pocket, then turned and left. Wearing heals meant I couldn't rush too much, I had to keep a steady pace to keep my balance.
Arriving at the music room door, I reached my hand out towards the handle but stopped when my fingers brushed the cold metal. I could hear voices. One Xavier's the other I couldn't quite pick. Pressing my ear to the door, I could make out what was being said.
"Why can't you see that she is just the ugly step sister and I'm Cinderella."
Jerking my ear away from the door when I heard some sort of commotion inside the room, then quiet.
Not being able to take the suspense any longer, I turned the handle and opened the door but immediately regretted it. Tears formed in my eyes but I refused to let them spill. Through my blurred vision, I managed to find the door handle I had let go of and shut the door. Turning on my heel, I walked back down the corridor.
"Belle!" Xavier's voice called.
Wiping my eyes and ignoring every instinct that told me to turn around and make him explain why he was kissing Lindsay. Biting my lip as not to let out a sob as I quickened my pace, back toward my room.
"Xavier? Where were we?" Lindsay's annoying and slightly squeaky voice reached my ears.
Turning down another corridor, vision completely blurred, I knocked into someone. That's when I lost it. I fell to the ground crying.
Inhaling through my nose, I smelt the familiar scent of Rose. She wrapped her arms around me just as Xavier started towards us. Rose looked up at him as if daring him to take another step. He did. Two very un-lady like words left her lips as she stared him down. After a few minutes of switching his gaze between Rose and I, he did as he was told and left, leaving me there to cry in Rose's arms. I'm not sure who I hated more: Xavier or Lindsay.
