"If there was something that you really want, what would you do?" The man whose face is barely visible asked the girl. The girl slightly opened her lips, in great thought. She then answered back with a small chuckle. "I'll seize it, with all my power, no matter how long it takes."
The faint glimpse of nostalgia flowed through Annelynn's mind as she woke up on the wooden bed. The light blue blanket locked out of the way as it crumples under her legs. The window that was slightly agape allowed beams of soft sunlight to pass through the tiny cracks. The wooden flooring creaked ever so slightly just from the light wind circulating around the room. It was like any common morning for the past two years. Despite the amnesia, Annelynn's fears and worries were quenched by his presence. How he gently took care of her even at the times where she could feel the confusion exploding into a mental breakdown. He was very patient with all of her antics. She felt extremely grateful for that treatment, really. However, she always felt that it was weird how he always had insinuated to not remember anything. He had always indirectly told Annelynn to not search for her past and instead, focus on her future. Annelynn was concerned about that. Why can't she remember her past? Was there something she shouldn't remember? Was there something off about her in the past? Was she hiding some sort of secret? She feels so lost without her past. There was a strong feeling that her past contains something vital and she needs to remember it. However, everytime she attempts to discuss this particular topic with him, he would angrily glare at her with eyes filled with utter terror. Annelynn couldn't help but tremble when she met with that expression.
If she had to unravel her past, she would need to do it in secret. And now, this day, she finally was able to attain a puzzle piece to her memories. In her dreams, she remembered a man dressed in a smart casual outfit. They were at a café with pink hues. The tables were white and the name of that café was... Wait. What was it again? She could feel a strong connection to this particular cafe and yet she couldn't recall it's name? Even so, A clue is a clue, she simply persists with that thought in mind.
"Good morning,Annelynn." The doors that was suddenly swung opened startled Annelynn. He came.
Annelynn, flustered, tried her best to keep a calm disposition. The man that appeared at the door was the person who cared for her since she had first woke up without her memories. He was called Blanche. Surname? He was unwilling to say it. He had clear blue eyes to mesmerize its lookers, raven hair that blends with the night and his gaze... It was as if he was a predator searching for its prey.
Annelynn tried to hide her nervousness with a "I had a bad dream," excuse and hopes for the best. She tried her best to act natural but at the same time, there was a sharp pang of guilt in her chest. He took care of her during this period of time. Even though it may be questionable to why he is so reluctant for her to remember her past, he was like family to her. Lying to him is difficult.
"A bad dream?" He gently smiled and sat at the edge of the bed, with his hands softly caressing her soft cheeks. He had a tender look on his face yet his eyes had a hint of fear and anxiety. Though on the surface, he spoke words of comfort , internally, he feels as though this 'bad dream' was something to be wary of. He doesn't want her to find out about anything relating to the past. Especially not anything that is related to that incident.
"Annelynn, " he soothed. "It's best if you just forget about it. A bad dream will be gone with time. You don't need to worry about anything."
Annelynn stared at Blanche's face with a wee smile plastered. She didn't know how to feel about it. Even though she lost her memories, Blanche didn't seem to urge her to recall any memories. Was it out of thoughtfulness or is there some sort of underlying ugly truth to it? Annelynn wants to know it so badly. Just why wasn't she asked to remember it. That touch on her face soon felt cold.
Blanche saw her speechless self. Despite smiling, he could see through her expression that she is conflicted. He could infer a few reasons for that and with every outcome he predicts, his anxiety rises and he starts to become a little bit more desperate in swaying her to not remember anything. "You shouldn't just believe in dreams! You know, dreams are usually just a fragment of our imagination! They are not meant to make sense! What you see in your dreams don't apply to real life!"
"...mm! I'm not worried about it!" Annelynn only smiled brighter in response. "It's just a bad dream after all!"
"Yes, that's right... A bad dream... " Blanche mumbled before changing to a more excited tone. "Oh, breakfast is done! So, I'll be waiting for you downstairs." He stood up from the bed and left. With his back facing Annelynn, his face scrunches into a tight scowl. His hands were slightly trembling, as he bit down on his lips. There must be something he could do.
With a partially relieved feeling, Annelynn got out of bed and looked into the mirror. Golden hair and magenta eyes. From the start, she always had these features, right? She couldn't help but stare at herself for a tad while more, her fingers sliding down from her eyes, to her nose, to her lips, and finally, the neck. There was a faint blue crescent on it. It had always been there from the beginning... Right?
Somehow, this unease that built up in her, tells her otherwise. She has to regain those memories of hers as soon as she could.
