Kim's Point of View

Hi. My name is Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu, 22 years of age. I am the eldest child in our family. I have a younger brother named Ethan ang a younger sister named Samantha. We aren't rich, but we aren't poor either. Our family is in a stable economic status. My mom owns a small 24/7 store, something like 7/11. My dad is an architect, so you can expect our house to be orchestrated. It's nice and cozy, that's why people praise my dad for it. It's his masterpiece. And although it's small, it's enough to hold a happy family. A living room, kitchen, dining room, two bathrooms, and four bedrooms. There's one for my parents, one for me and my sister, one for my brother, and one guest room. I'm still studying college, actually. And I'm graduating this year. But I already work as an intern in a radio station, sometimes a DJ, interviewer, and sometimes a reporter. I do almost everything when it comes to communication in media. I have to do this. I need to help my family. I know that by next year, Ethan is going for college, and after two years, Samantha will. My parents are getting older, so I don't want to rely on them for money. I accepted this internship so I could have experience and easily get a job, like I hoped. I dreamed of being a successful news reporter, DJ, and interviewer. My brother, though, is helping my mom in the store, in the hope of getting more money for his studies.

It's 4:00pm and I just finished my last class for the day. College is hectic, and I have to balance it with work. Just imagine the agony. I look at my planner. Gosh! I have to be in the radio station in 30 minutes. I have to be there at 4:30pm. How could I? It's a twenty minute drive from here, without traffic. I guess I'll just get a cab.

That was easy. I easily got a cab. No traffic, at least not yet. After a five-minute drive, we're caught up in a parade of cars-- traffic. Guess this wasn't easier than I thought. I see an endless line of cars. I pay the taxi driver and figured to just run going to the radio station. I got off the cab. Here I am, running as fast as I could to make it. I crossed the street.

Ouch! A car almost runs me over. My feet, they're aching. Ouch. I drop my opened bag on the road and massaged my feet.

"Are you okay? Do you want me to take you to the hospital? I'm sorry, but next time I think you should check the traffic light before crossing. " shouted the driver of the car that almost killed me.

"Yeah, I'm all right. Thanks." I replied and got up on my feet, grabbed my open bag and kept running toward the station again. I left the driver there. I didn't have any time to talk to him anyway. I'm sure he'll understand.

It's 4:35pm. I am almost there. Five more steps. Yes, I'm in. I go towards the elevator. It's destroyed. What luck! I'm in the first floor, and I have to take the flight of stairs all the way to the fifteenth floor. Amazing! I ran all the way up. I'm panting, catching my breath. I'm so tired. Running and climbing, is there no other good?

I'm already at the studio, that's what matters. I need this. I put my bag down on the table. The crew is preparing the studio.

"It's already 4:45pm, you're late. Come on, get in and let's start. You have to give this news report, so our company can be the first to announce it" said the man in charge.

"I'm sorry, sir. I just finished my class." I replied.

"Enough excuses. Just get in." he answered.

I got the news report. We started recording, but I saw from the eyes of the personnel that they were disappointed with my reporting. Yeah, I was panting while reporting. Could they blame me? I ran the way here and climbed fifteen floors of stairs! Thank God this isn't that important of a show. Not that I take this for granted, but I do this almost every day, the schedule was just different.
