【10】 - 𝔸ttempting

"🇰ankei?" She sputters out, earning the slightest of grins from him once he stopped in front of her window looking out the terrace. She then lowered her voice, hoping to not attract any attention. "What are you doing here?" She hissed with panic. 

"I'm here to rescue you," he states.

Her eyes rolled around her head, "yeah, but why?" 

"Because you need to come back to Anteiku," he reasons.

 Her eyes faltered to the ground, "I can't," she muttered.

"Why not?" He sighs.

"I just can't," she grits her teeth, not wanting to expose the truth to her friend. 

She turned her back to him, pacing in her room -- allowing him to quietly slip through the open window behind her. She then turned around, eyes widening to find him standing there.

 "What are you doing?! Get out!" She screeched in a whisper, pointing a finger past him and out the window he just entered through.

Kaneki shook his head in a defiant manner at her, giving her an intense stare. "No. I'm not leaving until you're coming with me." He states, grabbing hold of her wrist and spinning on his heel, beginning to exit with her in tow. 

Raven shook her head quickly, tugging her arm back into her while backing up from him, with Kaneki also refusing to let the gap grow between them. 

"I really can't, Kaneki. Don't make this harder than it has to be." She pleads, now backed against the wall.

"Why can't you?" Kaneki persuades, scoffing with frustration as he closed in a little more.

"They threatened everyone at Anteiku! Everyone who has been so nice to me, and didn't turn me away. If I stayed, you would all be slaughtered by Aogiri. I couldn't let that happen." Raven finally admits, as he began to lean a hand above her head to support his body.

"Raven, Aogiri is nothing but a heartless, evil group of ghouls who want to destroy humanity." Kaneki snaps, despite the tenderness his eyes held. 

"It's not like I don't see that, I just... I need to grow stronger." Raven excuses, moving on past him to pace more around her room. 

Kaneki furrows his brows, "what? You're already an S-rated ghoul, why would you need to grow stronger?" He scoffs in exasperation.

"There are gonna be ghouls stronger than me out there. Maybe after joining them, I'll be double-S-rated." Raven reasons. 

"You're the strongest ghoul that I know, Raven. You don't need to better yourself." Kaneki assures her, wrapping his fingers around her hands once he's closed in on the gap again.

Raven's next protest was taken from her as she stared at their intertwined hands, her eyes then traveling up to look into his steel-tainted eyes. Then Kaneki started to display the slightest of grins at her, affection laced into his grin.

"Please, Raven... come home. We need you... I need you." Kaneki mutters, nearly whispering the last part.

 Raven snaps out of their moment, slipping her hands away from his and turning away from him. "I can't, Kaneki, and that's final. No more persuasion that comes out of your mouth will swoon me. You can't make me come home. I need to be here, so everyone will remain safe." She insists.

A sigh is drawn from his mouth, "fine.... at least come and say goodbye." Kaneki suggests.

Raven shakes her head once more, "no, I can't do that. They'll probably all give me the cold shoulder, Touka more than anyone." Raven scoffs.
