I'm a sixteen year old sophmore girl at the Otaka High School. I am a very liked person and have a big reputation as the daughter of a teacher. All the kids suck up to me and the teachers expect highly of me. Not only that, but I also look pretty good from what I hear. I have green, crimson eyes, long brown hair, skinny, and a face full of freckles. I don't think I look that pretty. Yet everyone else thinks I am pretty, but I think it's just them sucking up to me. It can be quite annoying. I'm just glad to have two real friends who don't use me for status. Max and Skylar.
Max is the most popular guy at our school and I can understand why. He has perfectly styled hair, ocean blue eyes, amazing jawline, a handsome face, and he also dresses in a nice casual outfit every day. I'm pretty sure every girl has a crush on him. Yet his apparent status means nothing to him. He has told me, and nobody else, that he'd actually prefer to be as less known as possible. If people looked through his status and armor he puts on, they'd see that he is actually quite a timid guy. He is also sweet. He'd help anyone who would ask for it.
Then there is Skylar. She actually is only known do to the fact she is friends with Max and I. Her family is middle class and she isn't the absolute best at all sports. She is also pretty average looking. Blue eyes, with wavey, long, red hair, she also had freckles covering her face, and she is pretty skinny. Yet I think she is beautiful. Not only that, but she is very kind. I remember a time she ran into a door and apologized to it. I bet she couldn't even hurt a fly! Along with being kind, she is also very shy. She is always that one kid in the back hiding from everyone.
I'm so lucky to have them in my life. I really don't know how I'd make it through the days without them.
"Hey Ad," Max greeted me at my desk. "The bell rang."
"Sorry, I must've spaced out," I explained.
"It's fine," Max reassured me. "Let's meet up with Skylar."
I nodded and got up to follow Max to our next class. We both made a quick stop by our lockers to get our Math before heading to my fathers classroom. Once we got into the classroom I could see my dads lame decorating skills. Math posters here and there on the walls, white board at the front, desks in perfect lines, his desk at the front corner facing the student desks, and his chair pushed in perfectly under the desk.
Max and I sat next to each other as we wait for Skylar and everyone else to walk in. Soon enough my dad, also known as Mr. Saharah, walks in.
"Well this is a surprise," My dad jokes. "You arrived early to my class? Did you miss me?"
Max and I laugh a little.
"Yes Mr. Saharah," I joked back. "I missed you very much. It feels like ages since we last spoke."
We all laugh at our goofiness as more students stride in. Amongst the crowd was my dear friend Skylar who took the seat behind me.
"Where have you been?" I asked.
"Sorry I was talking to a teacher," Skylar said, falling into her seat as if to disappear.
"Hey don't sweat it," I reassured her. "We were just curious on what took you so long."
She smiled which showed me it helped. I'm glad that it did since I don't want her to feel anxious around me. We all smiled at each other and began talking about some unimportant things like what we did the night before. We don't usually gossip like the other kids. We think it's pointless and a big waste of time and energy. I've never seen the point of talking about other people that you may or may not know about things you don't know is even true to other people, when it never concerned yourself in the first place. In the end you don't gain anything and in most cases the person who is being gossiped about ends up hurt.
Soon enough, our conversation gets cut off by the bell, signifying that class has begun. The room goes silent as my dad walks up to the whiteboard.
"Alright students," He began. "Who remembers where we left off?"
Max's hand shoots up. Max's little gesture makes my father smile.
"Max," Dad beams, pointing at Max.
"We were working on these equations, but I forgot what it was called," Max admits.
"Well thanks for being honest," Dad says with his bright smile. "Do you at least remember how to write it?"
"Yeah!" Max exclaimed. He then made his way up to the board. He then began writing up numbers and letters. I was getting tired just watching him, but I can't fall asleep in class otherwise I'm gonna get my butt chewed.
In desperate hopes of trying not to fall asleep in class, I went to look out the window. I could see the leaves falling, birds flying, and the wind blowing the leaves into tiny tornadoes. Fall is always pretty here in Iowa. I mean Iowa is great. It always looks pretty in every season, they got beautiful winters, beautiful springs, beautiful summers, and beautiful falls. During the harvesting season it's always great. They have amazing soil for farming. Yet I don't know many farmers.
Even though people say Iowa is where everyone is or ends up being a farmer, it's really not true. I used to think the same things when I first moved here from the UK and so did Skylar when she came here from Japan. Yet eventually we both learned it was just a stereotype from Max. He was born and raised here, so I believed him and boy am I glad I did. It was harder to explain to Skylar though, since she had spoken a different language. Really the only thing that stayed with Skylar and I from where we used to live is our accents.
"Addison?" An annoyed voice called out. Out of shock, I jumped and turned to the front. "May I ask what the answer is?" I stared at my irritated father who stood red faced and arms crossed, waiting for my answer.
"Sorry," I stuttered, looking down at my desk. "I wasn't paying attention."
"Stay with me after class," Dad fumed. I sunk in my desk and gave a nod to signify that I understood. Man was I dreading the end of this class which is quite unusual.
~It may take a few weeks in between each part for me to write, since I can't let this get in the way of my academics. I hope that doesn't bother anyone~
