Loki sat alone overlooking the massive chamber the general population of Asgard was currently living in.
'They're okay.' he thought to himself and let out a relieved sigh then looked down in guilt. Lifting his hands he made a shining blue cube appear.
'Why did I take you?' he thought, realizing it would have been better to let Surtur destroy it along with the rest of Asgard. Just as quickly as it appeared he made the cube vanish back into whatever pocket it came from, it didn't matter, Thanos hadn't come for him yet and he doubted he will. When they got to Earth he'd do something with the cube there, the titan couldn't be allowed to have it. No matter what.
"Is something wrong brother?" Thor called out and strutted into the room.
"No, why would there be? Hela is dead and the people are safe." Loki drawled.
'Yet you still isolate yourself." Thor sounded dismayed.
"I've done terrible things-" Loki started but Thor cut him off.
"And your working to fix them.""Will I even be allowed back to Earth or will I be sentenced to a cage for the rest of my life, or maybe I'll spend eternity falling?" He demanded.
"Your being dramatic." Thor chuckled and sat next to him.
"Am I? I did try and enslave the entire planet not to long ago." Loki reminded him.
"You're a better person now, I'll speak on your behalf when we arrive." Thor held up his pinky and acted like all was well.
"What are you doing?" Loki stared at his brother's finger in confusion.
"It's called a pinky promise, I learned it on Earth. It means you can't break this promise. All you have to do is wrap your finger with mine and shake." Thor smiled childishly.
Loki rolled his eyes but accepted the promise with his own pinky. "Sometimes you really are ridiculous." Loki sighed and Thor's grin widened.
"It'll be like we're children again." Thor remarked then went silent."I miss mo-, Frigga, I mean." Loki looked guilty.
"You mean our mother." Thor said gently.
"I miss her too." He confessed."I should have been there, kept her safe." Loki let out a frustrated growl. Just another example of one the most important things he couldn't protect.
"What could you have done?" Thor asked.
"It would have ended the same, maybe with you dead too.""I could have been there to say goodbye." Loki looked down in shame.
"She doesn't blame you. Never did. No matter how many times father and I tried to tell her to forget you she never would." Thor placed his hand on his brother's back.
"She'd use her magic and come visit me." Loki admitted.
"She'd send books to try and pass the time too.""Sounds like something she'd do." Thor laughed.
Silence settled over them again and it lasted about ten minutes, just the two of them watching over their people.
"We should get something to eat." Thor decided and pulled Loki up.
"We can just order something. I dont think its a good idea to be around everyone." The raven haired god was apprehensive.
"Why?" Thor was confused.
"I destroyed Asgard. They must hate me." Loki said flatly.
"They would all be dead if it weren't for you. And Surtur destroyed Asgard, not you." Thor reminded.
Loki looked at him for a second then nodded, he walked beside Thor with a peppey note to his steps.Things where starting to go back to 'normal' between them and Loki cracked a small smile.
This would be the start of a new chapter in his life.
