Alexis was lost in her thoughts. James Cooper had seen her cry, but he didn’t even care. He just brushed her off as if she didn’t matter. Like they were never friends. Was it really possible to be that heartless? Nothing made sense to her. But one thing was for sure, Alexis hated James Cooper.
Alexis wasted the rest of the day filling Samantha and Jennifer in. Who both urged her to ignore James and to never speak to him. Alexis knew they were right, but would it be that easy to just ignore him? He did live next door.
By the time it was eight o’clock, Alexis was done re-touching her make up and was ready for her date with Dave. It was unlike her to be ready on time, but she was eager to get out of the house.
Dave arrived promptly at eight.
“Hey Dave.” Alexis greeted as she got into his car.
“You look great.” Dave said and with a shaky voice. His clammy hands and semi-terrified expression gave away his nervousness.
Alexis noticed how nervous he was and said, “Calm down, Dave. You can breath now, we’re just going the movies.”
“My bad,” Dave said with an awkward laugh, “I’m just nerv-”
“I can tell. Don’t worry. I don’t bite.” she said with a smile.
Throughout the night, Dave was a complete gentlemen. Opening the doors, paying for the tickets and even gave his jacket to Alexis when the theatre got a tad bit cold. He didn’t try any moves on Alexis. Which was nice, but one thing he also didn’t do was talk. During the whole movie, Dave failed to say one thing to Alexis.
“You hungry?” Alexis said as the movie ended.
“Yeah, you down to grab some burgers?”
“Sure.”
On their way to the car Alexis couldn't help to examine Dave’s features. He was a really cute guy. Awkward, but cute. He had light brown hair naturally cut into a faux hawk, no gel needed. Why is he so shy right now? Alexis thought, he wasn’t this shy durning her party yesterday. Oh, that’s right. No alcohol.
Dave was too cute for his own good. Awkward and somewhat goofy, but nonetheless, extremely good looking.
Dave’s hazel eyes widened ad his face grew petrified when he noticed Alexis starring at him. “Is there something on my face?” he said as he swatted the sides of his cheeks making Alexis giggle.
“No, there’s nothing on your face,” she said, trying to recover from her laughter.
The rest of the night flew by smoothy. They talked about school and football during their late dinner and Dave seemed a little more relaxed.
That night, Alexis decided to sleeping the guest bedroom. She didn’t want to see James in his room.
Alexis wasted away Sunday doing homework, painting her nails, and catching up on all her shows.
When Monday morning had comes, Alexis felt like her world was slowly going back to normal. Of course, random thoughts about James Cooper would corrupt her brain every now and then, but she quickly shooed them away. She was not about to spend her senior year secretly obsessing over him, again.
At school, Alexis and her two best friends met at the Senior Quad before their first class.
“Wow, Alex! You’re not running late this today!” Samantha said, almost as if she was congratulating her.
Alexis normally arrived at school a few minutes before the bell rang, everyone else got to school about 20 minutes earlier. It was tradition for all he friends to meet up and chit-chat in the morning, before classes started. Alexis usually missed out on their morning festivities.
