18th May,

The date Prince swore to always forget. He hated that date. He felt like that date was the date where his misery was at its peak. Something bad always happens on that date. Two years ago on that same date, he lost a friend. Last year, during a school trip, he tripped and fell while crossing a river. He called the date, "Misery 101". It was pretty obvious he despised that date. Today was a little different. He had gone almost twelve hours without something bad happening to him. He thought the day couldn't have felt better. There was only one problem. He had a bad feeling. Whatever he did he couldn't shake the feeling. Deep down he was a little optimistic about today because well nothing happened, but that bad feeling would not leave his mind. Something's not right.

Prince was taking a stroll around the campus. It was nearly nightfall. The sun was orange and warm. The clouds started to disappear. It was a little windy too. The giant green trees were restless. Aside from the leaves making the noise, the whole campus was quiet. The beautiful campus was practically "free" today. That's a first, it is an extremely rare sight because the university campus is never this quiet; especially on a Saturday, morning or evening. The birds were getting ready to retire as night settled in. It was a long walk on the sidewalk but that was the idea. He loved taking long walks on Campus. He would take one every now and then. Today he wanted his mind to himself so he decided to walk around the campus today. As he walked, he would listen to music. He looked around the beautiful sceneries, he occasionally walked past a few students . Some were on benches, others walked by, some sitting under trees and so on. They were not making as much noise as expected. He noticed that they were all in groups. He never saw a student walking alone. He was the only one walking alone.

He approached the road where the roundabout that had the school monument was. He paused in his tracks to catch a glimpse of the monument up close. The monument was composed of three animals. A deer, a lion and an eagle. From his point of view, the lion stood in the middle with both front paws on a rock. It had a crown on it's head. It had golden fur with a red mane. It was sculpted to look like he was roaring. The deer was on the left hand side, facing another direction. It was a stag with brilliant Jade antlers. He had a dark brown body and black hooves. It stood on its hind legs. Facing the next direction was the eagle. Using special anti-gravitational technology developed by a student, it was suspended. The eagle sculpture had its wings spread. From a standpoint, it looked like it was swooping to pounce its prey. It had beautiful brown feathers on its wings and body. It had pale yellow feet and black claws. The head and neck had white feathers and on that a golden beak. Kinda like a bald eagle.

Prince was deep in thoughts as he stared at the colossal monument. He had his headphones playing songs in his ear. As an established heavy metal fan, he listened to American metal bands like Architects and I Prevail. He had a number of bands he listened to. Tonight however, was not about music. He had something else in mind. He continuously stared at the monument for a moment. It was really impressive. The detail on the sculpture was impeccable. The creators really spared no expense on this. They looked exactly like the real deal. So life-like. On the monument it said, "Courage, Strength and Honor. United we stand!" It was cool but tonight, No, tonight was not about the monument either.

"United huh, you gotta be kidding me." He continued on his path. The winds were getting quieter and quieter. The trees were still moving and the sun had disappeared. It was night-time. Now normally, there would be students conversing around all over but recently it had gotten quiet. Nowadays, you'd see fewer students around at night. How fishy.
Prince continued walking until he reached a crossroad. There was a sign post there that said "York crossroad", another student's idea. The traffic lights were out of commission for the day. Only the ember lights blinked. He quickly looked around. He soon realized he was alone on the street. A normal person would freak out about the fact that it's so quiet but not this guy. He loved every second of this moment. He loved the peace and quiet. He loved being alone and he was not normal. The song he was listening to had just finished playing. Prince took out his phone to switch to another playlist.

Then, something grabbed his attention. From the distance, he could hear a sound of a car engine. It sounded like a muscle car. This snapped his mind into consciousness. He became so focused on the sound the car made. This peaked his interest; he loved cars especially muscle ones. It drew nearer and nearer. A few minutes later, the car screeched to a halt about a few meters away from the traffic lights. Prince, so full of curiosity, drew near to the vehicle. As he drew closer, he noticed the type of muscle car it was. It was a black Dodge Charger with red racing stripes. It had black rims and tainted glasses. Prince stopped in his tracks. That bad feeling again, he started to feel uneasy. He began to back up slowly. He turned to walk away when he heard one of the glass windows move. He turned to look. He couldn't see what was going on. First because he was myopic and second, the ember lights were really not helping at all. He could only listen. He moved the headphone to his neck to listen better. Then he heard a brash voice say,
"That's him."

BANG!!
